About Us

The Department of Humanities and Pedagogy (IHoP) offers education within a broad spectrum of subjects and areas, both in the form of standalone courses and programs. At IHoP, research and doctoral education are also conducted. The department is characterized by cross-disciplinary collaboration and a desire to continuously develop both education and research.

The History subject at Örebro University conducts broad research and teaching activities covering, for example, cultural history, political history, migration history, global history, and subject didactics. The subject is part of a multidisciplinary environment with English, Literary Studies, Rhetoric, and the Swedish language. History is one of the specializations within the doctoral education subject of Humanities Studies.

The History subject offers education at the undergraduate and doctoral levels.

Responsibilities

As a University Lecturer, you devote your working time to teaching, research, and related collaboration. The responsibilities include, in addition to teaching, research, and collaboration, development work, administration, and competence development. The teaching also involves supervision, examination, course development, planning, and evaluation.

For the current position, teaching takes place within the teacher education program and the basic and advanced courses in History. Some of the courses offered are distance-based.

Qualifications

Eligible for appointment as a University Lecturer is someone who has demonstrated pedagogical skill and has obtained a PhD in a subject area relevant to the position, or has equivalent scientific competence or other professional skills that are significant considering the subject content of the position and the duties involved.

The position is 100% for 12 months, with immediate start. Örebro University applies individual salary setting.
