We are looking for a laboratory assistant for a fixed-term position at the Department of Science and Technology.

Background

The Research Centre MTM (Man, Technology, Environment) focuses on applied research on the environment, health, and sustainable development. We are seeking a laboratory assistant in chemistry within the area of environmental analytical chemistry.

Responsibilities

The laboratory assistant will participate in various research projects and work with sample preparation and chemical analysis of organic pollutants, such as per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB), using mass spectrometric methods. The work is carried out in a research environment and includes handling and maintenance of analytical instruments and other laboratory equipment, sample preparation, data evaluation, and written documentation.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a bachelor's degree, or equivalent, in chemistry with a focus on analytical chemistry or analytical science. You should have knowledge and experience of sample preparation, extraction, and analysis of organic substances using liquid chromatography and gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry. Experience in sample preparation of PFAS, PCB, and related organic substances is an advantage.

We are looking for you who are goal-oriented, curious, and meticulous, with a good ability to work independently and with a high awareness of goals and quality standards. You have good teamwork skills, a flexible approach, and good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in both Swedish and English.

Information

The position is full-time (100%) and fixed-term for up to 6 months, subject to agreement. Örebro University applies individual salary setting.
