Are you a nursing student interested in working within the Pediatric Surgical Department after completing your education and graduating as a nurse? On Ward 95B, we care for children in the following specialties: surgery, urology, orthopedics, hand surgery, spine surgery, neurology, and neurosurgery. We offer you, who are starting term 6 of the nursing program this spring and who choose to start your career with us after completing your studies, the opportunity to apply for a study grant during your final term (term 6).

Grow into the role

As a newly graduated nurse with us, you will receive an individual induction period of 6 weeks. Sometimes the step between education and working life feels large, and to give you the opportunity to grow into your new role, you will become part of our Clinical Development Year (KUÅ) during your first year with us at Academic University Hospital.

KUÅ is a mandatory professional introduction for you as a newly graduated nurse employed by Region Uppsala, aiming to help you sharpen your clinical skills, network with other newly graduated nurses, and have reflection time together with experienced nurses.

You are offered meaningful and rewarding work, where you meet families in many different situations. You will be part of a team that supports and helps each other, while also working independently. As a new employee with us, you will receive a personally tailored introduction program. After that, our experienced clinical supervisors will be in place to supervise, follow up, and support you in your continued development.

Your qualifications

As a newly graduated nurse on Ward 95B, you work in a team together with assistant nurses, nurses, and doctors. You also have close cooperation with the multiprofessional team at the children's hospital. There will be many laughs during the day together with children and families.

The tasks are varied and include family-centered care for children. We place great emphasis on patient flow and patient contact. The workday consists of many meetings with our patients and their families; the work is both varied and challenging, and well-functioning teamwork is always in focus for the patient's best interest. We have both planned and emergency intake around the clock.

Your competence

You are a nursing student starting term 6 this spring. You are interested in pediatric care and want to start your career with us on Ward 95B, the Pediatric Surgical Department at Academic University Hospital. We place great importance on personal suitability, such as being responsible and motivated in your work. You have a flexible and curious approach and have good cooperation skills.

We offer

We offer you a permanent position as a care assistant during T6. Upon submission of your license, the employment will be converted to a permanent position as a nurse.

You commit to working with us for 12 months after completing your degree. There is an opportunity to work as an assistant nurse or care assistant during your studies, but this is not a requirement. Your new position will, unless otherwise agreed, involve full-time work with duty requirements for all hours of the day, so-called rotational duty.
