About the Organization

Hello! Are you one of our new colleagues joining two special education groups in Gällivare Municipality? As a Special Needs Teacher or an experienced primary school teacher, we can offer you meaningful and varied work with good opportunities for development. We are looking for a total of two teachers/special needs teachers for our two special education groups.

The purpose of the special education group is to provide students with extensive needs for special support with the opportunity to develop academically and socially in a more structured and adapted learning environment. The group aims to create better conditions for study peace, clear structure, and individual support. The initiative with special education groups is a temporary support. Our two new special education groups will be located at Tallbackaskolan and Hedskolan, our two largest F-6 schools. The staff will be under the operational area of Central Student Health Services.

In Gällivare Municipality, there are a total of 9 primary schools, both in the central town and in our villages in the countryside. Within Gällivare Municipality's primary schools, in addition to teachers with basic qualifications, there are also lead teachers, special educators, special needs teachers, counselors, school nurses, class mentors, and student assistants/resources. In grades 1–6, there are class mentors at our schools, and in the urban area, there are school wardens in grades 7–9.

Job Responsibilities

As a special needs teacher or experienced teacher in a special education group, you will help create opportunities where all students are offered the chance to achieve the goals and where learning is experienced as meaningful, stimulating, and joyful. You will work with teaching the students in the group at both individual and group levels, maintain close contact with guardians, and coordinate interventions needed to ensure our students have optimal conditions for development. You will also have close contact with the students' mentors and other teachers who teach the student.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a licensed teacher for students in grades 3-6. A special needs teacher education is meritorious. You should be responsible, clear, and driven, and have an easy time building good relationships with students, guardians, and colleagues. Commitment, solution-focus, innovative thinking, and interest in and ability to collaborate are qualities we value. We also place great emphasis on personal suitability.

In accordance with the National Minority Language Act, Gällivare Municipality is the administrative municipality for Sami, Meänkieli, and Finnish. Knowledge of any of these languages is meritorious when applying for employment in Gällivare Municipality.

Employment requires a certificate of good conduct from the police and a valid teaching license.

Working Hours/Duration

Full-time. The position is fixed-term until 2027-06-30 with the possibility of extension. You will receive a permanent position in Gällivare Municipality. Special needs teachers and experienced primary school teachers will work based on the teachers' agreement with holiday service.
