Your role

Our section, Aircraft Simulation, is growing, and we are now looking for more software developers – from those at the beginning of their careers to those with extensive experience who want to take the next step. Here, you will have the opportunity to further develop our software components while developing yourself in technology, software development, and teamwork. Our team values collaboration highly, and you will work with many people outside our section who, together, develop both the Gripen aircraft and its simulators.

In this role, you will be part of one of our development teams. The teams have different focus areas, but all work on developing our complex product from various perspectives. Depending on your level of experience, you will have the opportunity to take responsibility and grow in the role with support from experienced colleagues, while more senior developers are given ample space to influence technical decisions and working methods. Your daily work may consist of many varied tasks depending on where we are in the development cycle. Everything from coding new features, integrating the software with other components, debugging, to testing and deliveries with associated documentation.

We strive for continuous improvement and learning, which is why we have a Learning & Innovation Day where you get the opportunity to learn from each other but also have time to test new things or deepen your knowledge in new technologies or languages. You will become part of a great group with diverse experiences where we gladly help each other out and put the team before the individual.

The Aircraft Simulation section is part of the Common Development area, which is responsible for developing and delivering a realistic simulation of the JAS 39 Gripen, used both for aircraft development and for training pilots and technicians.

Your profile

We are looking for you who have a relevant academic degree or equivalent experience that we consider comparable. You enjoy writing code, developing features, and performing debugging. Whether you are relatively new to the workforce or have several years of experience, we believe you are driven by curiosity, problem-solving, and the desire to develop together with others.

The languages we use most are ADA, C, C++, and Python, although Fortran may also be used. You do not need to have experience with all these languages previously – the most important thing is that you have a solid technical foundation and an interest in learning new technologies. For more experienced candidates, there is an opportunity to contribute in areas such as software architecture, technical leadership, and coaching colleagues.

It is also an advantage if you have worked according to agile principles.

To fit the role, you should have good analytical skills and be able to identify connections and needs. As a person, you are responsible and comfortable taking initiative to drive your work forward. Since you will belong to a technical team, it is important to be a team player with the ability to collaborate with others. Additionally, it is valuable if you are curious, want to develop, and are eager to share knowledge and ideas with the team.

The position requires that you undergo and pass the security clearance assessment according to current regulations. For positions where Saab has requirements for security classification, this may, in some cases, entail requirements for specific citizenship.
