Your Role

As a Systems Engineer here, you will play a key role in the development of advanced self-protection and surveillance systems. You will be responsible for requirements breakdown, architecture questions, and technical interfaces. You will work on vehicle system integration, ensuring our solutions function seamlessly with the technical systems and communication interfaces of the vehicle platforms. The position involves working with communication systems and networks in close collaboration with our customers.

You will be involved in the entire lifecycle—from concept and development to operation and decommissioning of systems and subsystems. The work takes place in cross-functional teams together with specialists, project managers, and colleagues within verification, hardware, and software. It is a role with many contact points, providing a flexible and stimulating work environment.

To succeed in this role, a strong understanding of systems and the ability to think holistically are required. You need to be able to analyze how technical and organizational parts affect each other over time and contribute to creating solutions that work in complex contexts. Your task is not only to solve technical problems but also to help shape structures, processes, and communication that facilitate the management of system complexity over time. You are expected to be proactive in identifying relationships and dependencies, and integrating different parts into a well-functioning whole.

Here, you will have the opportunity to influence, collaborate, and grow in a role where a holistic perspective, communication, and technical skill are crucial for driving development forward.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop new communication systems as well as further develop and maintain existing solutions
  • Design system architecture and define high-level requirements
  • Work with requirements analysis - interpret, break down, and ensure requirements in collaboration with project management, customers, and other stakeholders
  • Follow the systems through the entire development phase, including integration and verification
  • Act as a technical support for software developers and serve as a sounding board in matters concerning structure and delivery flows
  • Participate in commissioning and provide support on-site at the customer
  • Work with integration between different systems and ensure functioning holistic solutions

The position is located in Arboga.

Your Profile

You are a university degree holder in engineering (e.g., Technical Physics, Electronics, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar) and have several years of experience in systems work within high-tech industry. You have a burning interest in technology, are curious, and are driven to develop in a role where you work with complex systems at the forefront of technology.

We believe you have experience in some of the following areas:

  • Systems work, requirements management, and system design
  • Networks and communication (preferably Cisco- or VoIP-based solutions such as Cisco CUCM)
  • Radio systems
  • IT and network security
  • Adaptation and integration between different technical systems
  • Documentation and technical reporting
  • Integration of systems on vehicles, including work with complex communication interfaces
  • Tools for requirements management and traceability, such as DOORS

Desirable knowledge and experience:

  • FMV's communication systems or experience from the defense industry
  • RF, radar, or other signal processing technology
  • Complex computer networks, network administration, and monitoring
  • Linux, scripting, or the ability to read and understand code
  • Training and mentoring of others
  • Processes for safety-critical systems in aviation (RTCA), automotive industry, or medical technology
  • Competence in EMC, power supply, cooling, ventilation, and climate systems (AC)

The position requires you to undergo and be approved according to the current security clearance regulations. For positions where Saab has requirements for security classification, this may, in some cases, entail requirements for specific citizenship.
