Do you want to make a real impact and create change? Here you contribute to creating security for people and societies. What you do matters.

Junior to Senior Level

Do you want to work on the flight control system of one of Sweden's most technically complex products? We are now strengthening our teams within the flight control systems for the Gripen and are looking for systems engineers with a focus on electronics or mechanics. The role is adapted to your experience – we welcome both junior and senior candidates.

About the flight control system

The Gripen's flight control system gives the pilot full control within the entire specified flight envelope. The system consists of sensors, computers, actuators, and servos, and interacts with other subsystems in the aircraft via defined interfaces.

We place high demands on the flight control system regarding safety, functionality, availability, and long service life.

Your role

Systems Engineer – Flight Control System

As a systems engineer, you work with the entire lifecycle of the flight control system's hardware – from early concepts and development to verification, operation, and decommissioning. You have a central and coordinating role in the system and are responsible for:

  • Requirements management and system architecture
  • Interfaces between mechanics, electronics, software, and system level
  • Technical analysis, verification, and documentation
  • Practical support during production, integration, testing, and flight tests
  • Collaboration with other subsystems, suppliers, and customers

You drive several parallel activities and smaller technical assignments, taking responsibility for both details and the overall picture of the Gripen's flight control system.

Focus – Electronics

As a systems engineer in the electronics section, you are responsible for the electronic parts of the Gripen's flight control system. This includes work with flight control computers, analog electronics, gyroscopes, accelerometers, and other electronic subsystems. Meritorious for the role, but adapted to your experience, are:

  • Analog electronics and embedded systems
  • System modeling and control
  • Safety-critical systems

Focus – Mechanics

As a systems engineer in the mechanics section, you are responsible for the mechanical parts of the Gripen's flight control system. This includes work with mechanical flight sensors, position sensors, and servo systems for all of the Gripen's control surfaces. Meritorious for the role, but adapted to your experience, are:

  • System modeling and control
  • Mechanical design and hydraulics
  • Drafting and CAD
  • Research within hydraulics

Your profile

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A Master of Science or Bachelor of Science in Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, or a corresponding field of study
  • An interest in complex and technically advanced systems
  • Good collaboration skills and experience communicating with many different technical areas
  • A structured approach to work and a willingness to take technical responsibility

Junior

  • Recently graduated or early in your career
  • Wants to develop within systems engineering, requirements management, and hardware-related development
  • Works closely with experienced colleagues and gradually builds a holistic understanding

Senior

  • Several years of experience in systems engineering
  • Takes overall responsibility and drives technical decisions
  • Functions as technical support and mentor in the team

Why join us?

  • Work on the Gripen's flight control system – technology at the absolute forefront
  • Responsibility for products from concept to decommissioning
  • Varied workdays with both analysis, design, and practical work
  • Opportunity to influence architecture and technical solutions
  • Amazing colleagues with many social activities
  • Long-term and socially important projects in a strong engineering team

The position requires that you undergo and are approved according to current regulations for security clearance. For positions where Saab has requirements for security classification, this may, in some cases, entail requirements for certain citizenship.
