About Us

The Cancer Rehabilitation Team admits patients in need of advanced-level rehabilitation who are undergoing or have undergone cancer treatment. The team receives patients from all over Sörmland and offers both in-person consultations at Mälarsjukhuset and digital visits. The focus is on helping the patient achieve the best possible daily functioning across different areas of life. This includes interventions that contribute to increased quality of life and maintaining or regaining the best possible functional and activity capacity.

The team includes an occupational therapist, a dietitian, a physiotherapist, a social worker, and a team coordinator. Consultants include, among others, a lymphedema therapist and a sexologist. In addition to patient care, the team works on continuous development of the operations.

The physiotherapist in the team is going on parental leave, and we are therefore looking for a substitute during her absence.

Benefits at Region Sörmland include:

  • Wellness allowance of 5,000 SEK (for the year 2026).
  • Flexible working hours agreement.
  • Opportunities for professional development.
  • Friendly and experienced colleagues and managers.
  • Mentorship/guidance by a physiotherapist upon employment.

Your Responsibilities

The physiotherapist provides advice and support on how the patient can increase their physical activity level and start suitable exercise after cancer disease and treatment. The physiotherapist leads training groups both on-site and digitally, with a key part of the role being to support the patient in finding new strategies and reducing fear.

Interventions are conducted both individually and team-based. The team works with rehabilitation plans to set individual goals for the patient.

In addition to close teamwork, the team collaborates with other units and works to spread knowledge within the region. Part of the work therefore involves being able to give presentations for educational purposes.

We are looking for you who have a good ability to work in a team and take responsibility for your own tasks in a structured way. You should be able to stand before both larger and smaller groups and represent the team. Experience with cancer patients is desirable but not a requirement.
