The Meals Unit in Sollentuna Municipality works based on a common meal program with a focus on health, sustainability, and quality. We create nutritious, wholesome meals and safe environments that contribute to equal health and sustainable development. Every day, we serve approximately 14,000 meals in preschools and schools. Our kitchens are important for giving children and students a positive relationship with food, where the meal becomes part of learning and inspires good, sustainable eating habits. Responsibilities

As Head Chef, you are responsible for creating a kitchen that runs smoothly, maintains high quality, and contributes to a positive, safe, nutritious, and enjoyable dining experience for the students. In this role, you lead the daily work in the kitchen and ensure that everything flows from the first preparation to the final serving. You report to one of our area managers with whom you will also hold employee meetings. Together with our meal developer, you plan menus that follow nutritional recommendations, take season and budget into account, and ensure that special diets are handled correctly and safely.

As Head Chef, you also drive the work regarding hygiene, safety, and self-control, ensuring that the kitchen follows all guidelines according to HACCP. You are responsible for orders, storage, and contact with suppliers, while simultaneously distributing tasks and supporting the kitchen staff in their daily work. The role also involves close collaboration with educators and school management, where you communicate regarding menus, special diets, and any changes in operations.

Qualifications

To thrive and succeed in this role, you need to be self-reliant and take responsibility for ensuring that the work in the kitchen runs smoothly and structured. You collaborate well and build good relationships with colleagues, and you meet the children with a secure and warm approach.

You work carefully and with quality awareness, with order and tidiness as a natural part of your professional pride.

Requirements:

• Chef training or equivalent competence/experience deemed suitable by the employer.
• Experience in leading and distributing work in a larger kitchen team.
• Experience in planning and organizing work with menu planning, orders, and daily operations.
• Experience working according to HACCP and with self-controls.
• Good knowledge of Swedish in speech and writing.
• Experience in preparing special diets and handling allergies.
• Computer literacy.

Merits:

• Experience working in preschool or school.
• Experience working in diet data systems, preferably Mateo.

For those who proceed in the recruitment process, interviews will be held on-site at Sollentuna City Hall. Interviews will take place during weeks 26–27.

You will be employed centrally at the Meals Unit, which means you may be moved between kitchens when needs arise. The basis is that you are based in one kitchen.
