Job Description

We are currently looking for hourly paid meal assistants and cooks for the Staffing Unit, Internal Services, Preschool and Primary School. At the City of Gothenburg, we focus on sustainability and the environment. This means a way of working that includes, among other things, environmentally friendly meals, vegetarian cooking, food waste management, purchasing organic food, and adapting to seasonal ingredients.

As an hourly employee, you will work in several different operations, so the tasks may vary. The work includes tasks related to cooking, such as preparation and salad making, as well as serving delicious and nutritious meals, which also includes special diets. Your duties also include dishwashing, post-work tasks, cleaning, and waste management. Heavy lifting occurs in the kitchen environment. Being a temporary hourly worker in our staffing unit means:

• working in several different preschools and schools within the City of Gothenburg
• replacing permanent staff during short-term absences
• entering your available hours yourself in our booking system, Time Care Pool, and being booked as needed
• your working hours may be scheduled between 06:00 and 15:30, Monday to Friday

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a cook or meal assistant education, or other education that the employer deems equivalent. Previous experience working in a kitchen environment is advantageous. Experience working in large-scale kitchens and/or reception kitchens is particularly advantageous.

Since food safety and hygiene are of great importance to the operation, you should have knowledge and experience in special diets, waste management, allergies, and self-control.

As an employee with us, you will have daily contact with the operation's diners and their needs. Therefore, it is important that you are service-oriented, meticulous, and value a hygienic work environment. You can work independently and value good dialogue with both diners and the client. You have the interest, willingness, and ability to help others, and you strive to find solutions to the challenges that may arise in our kitchens. You see value in working sustainably and environmentally consciously. Good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written, is a prerequisite for this role. You are unpretentious and have a very good ability to collaborate with your colleagues. The position requires that you are flexible and can step in with short notice.
