Cooks for Temporary Positions in Lerum Municipality Meal Service

Lerum Municipality is known for its beautiful natural areas with lakes and forests. The municipality has 3,200 employees and 43,000 residents, but expects significant growth in the coming years. Lerum is located only a 20-minute drive from Gothenburg and is currently facing a period of intense development with many exciting projects underway, ranging from schools to housing. The municipality works to ensure good service, high welfare, and a thriving business climate.

Dagens Samhälle has recently named Lerum the winner in the category of large city municipalities (2025) - an award based on a comprehensive comparison of 290 Swedish municipalities regarding schools, healthcare and social care, economy, culture and leisure, attractiveness, business life, and future factors such as digitalization and civil preparedness. We are now a Super Municipality!

With the start of the autumn term, we are now looking for cooks for temporary positions within our kitchens in Lerum Municipality's Meal Service.

How it works

As a temporary staff member, you will be employed through Lerum Municipality's Staffing Unit. The assignments cover periods when regular staff are absent, which can be both short-term cover and longer-term assignments.

You will be employed intermittently (as a temp) and receive ongoing requests for work shifts – sometimes on the same day, sometimes with longer notice. You indicate your availability for work in our digital booking system, where you can also express interest in specific shifts.

As a temp, work assignments can vary from day to day, and you may work in different kitchens throughout the municipality. Working hours are during the day on weekdays, but weekends in nursing homes may also occur.

4 positions available.

Job Responsibilities

You contribute to making every meal a positive experience for our guests. As a cook, you are responsible for preparing, cooking, and serving nutritious and well-prepared meals with quality and care in focus.

We have an egalitarian working style in our kitchens and help each other with tasks. The work takes place primarily in large kitchens, but also in single-person kitchens for those with more experience as cooks.

Your responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook meals according to menu and diet policy.
  • Serve food and provide good hospitality to our diners.
  • Common tasks such as dishwashing, cleaning, and self-control checks.
  • Work according to the municipality's vision with a focus on ecological purchases, reduced food waste, and climate-smart meals.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is self-reliant, service-oriented, and responsible. You work systematically, collaborate well with others, and have the ability to switch between different tasks without losing quality or pace.

You take responsibility, are proactive, and see what needs to be done whether you work in a team or independently. Collaboration and an egalitarian approach are important to you, and you have a good ability to adapt to different kitchens and routines.

Requirements:

  • At least three years of experience working independently as a cook in several different kitchens. Alternatively, you are a trained cook with at least one year of relevant professional experience.
  • Documented knowledge/training in food hygiene and self-control.
  • Good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written.
  • Basic computer skills.

Merits: Training in special diets and experience as a cook in large kitchens.

Since the position involves work in schools and preschools, a valid extract from the Police's criminal record for "Work in school or preschool" is required. You order it yourself via the Police website: https://polisen.se/tjanster-tillstand/belastningsregistret/digitalt-registerutdrag/ (https://polisen.se/tjanster-tillstand/belastningsregistret/digitalt-registerutdrag/)
