About the Workplace

Bergby Central School, together with Trödje, Björke, and Milboskolan, forms the Bergby Principal Area. The school is located in Bergby in the scenic Hamrånge area, approximately 3.5 miles north of Gävle City. Bus connections to central Gävle are good, and many of our staff commute. The school is a grades F-9 school with approximately 300 students and around 40 staff members distributed across three work teams.

We have good cooperation within the principal area. We use the Unikum system for planning, assessment, and communication with guardians. We have a developed systematic quality work where we jointly follow up on results regarding knowledge, safety, study environment, and absenteeism. A special feature for the lower secondary section at Bergby Central School is our own subject – "Future Choices" (Framtidsval). Through Future Choices, students encounter important life questions early on and prepare for upcoming high school choices. We see this subject as part of the positive development we have seen regarding increased motivation and good merit values. It has become a natural part of our systematic quality work. In recent years, the rest of the school has been expanded with new classrooms, a library, a sports hall, and a youth center.

About the Position

Job Responsibilities

For the upcoming school year, you, as the candidate for this position, are planned to provide support teaching in mathematics for grades 4-9, work with goals in action programs, and partially serve as a resource in regular science teaching for grades 7-9. The responsibilities also include mentoring for some students.

Generally, as a teacher for grades 4-9, you work with:

• Teaching, having class responsibility as well as responsibility for mapping, planning, implementation, and evaluation of lessons.
• You challenge and support students so they achieve good study results and adapt your teaching based on all students' needs and prerequisites.
• The work is carried out according to decided goals and guidelines.
• The work is carried out in collaboration with other educators, student health services, guardians, and other actors outside the school.

Qualifications

We are looking for you with:

• A teacher's degree and teacher certification with eligibility to teach mathematics/science in grades 4-9.
• The ability to express yourself well in Swedish, both orally and in writing.
• General knowledge and experience with digital tools.
• Knowledge of the curriculum for primary school.

Experience in special education is meritorious for the position.
