The Unit for Civil Defence is responsible for the areas of protection against accidents, rescue services, and civil defense, as well as certain issues within the Ministry of Defence's area of responsibility regarding society's crisis preparedness and civil defense. The unit is responsible for coordinating issues within the EU, NATO, Nordic, and other international cooperation regarding crisis preparedness and civil defense. The unit's mandate also includes budget coordination and agency management of central actors in the field, including the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency and the Coast Guard.

The position involves coordinating, developing, and following up on work within crisis preparedness and civil defense, with a focus on EU, NATO, and international issues. This includes, for example, the EU's and NATO's work on resilience and preparedness, strengthened cooperation in the Nordic region and the Baltic Sea region, as well as other regional and bilateral cooperations. The work at the unit is characterized by significant development pressure. The role may also include tasks within the unit's other areas of operation, both nationally and internationally, depending on needs and priorities.

Main responsibilities:

• Coordination of EU, NATO, and other international cooperation.
• Developing and driving Sweden's positions in relevant forums and active participation in international contexts.
• Analysis of factual circumstances and achieved results within the area of operation.
• Developing improvement proposals and material for policy and strategy development.

The responsibilities also include, if necessary, assisting in the handling of incidents within the unit's area of responsibility, such as extensive or complex accidents and crises. The tasks require close collaboration with the unit's other caseworkers and with other relevant caseworkers within the Government Offices, as well as ongoing contact with authorities and other relevant actors. You prepare material for the political leadership on current issues, and these tasks are often carried out under time pressure. The role also involves business trips abroad.

Your background

We are looking for you who have a relevant academic degree or other education assessed as equivalent. You have current and several years of experience in development work within public operations. Current and several years of experience from working with the EU and/or international cooperation is also a requirement. Furthermore, the position requires good knowledge of the Swedish public administration and its decision-making processes. You are also well-versed in the security political situation. You have good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in both Swedish and English.

Experience of working with casework tasks within the Government Offices is meritorious, as well as experience of issues within the unit's area of operation.

Other

This recruitment concerns a permanent full-time position starting with a 6-month probationary period, with start date as agreed. The position is security-classified, and a security investigation with register check will be conducted before a decision on employment is made. You must be a Swedish citizen, but may have a foreign background.
