Investigation Engineer in Wastewater – Fixed-term Contract with Potential for Permanent Employment

Apply for our exciting fixed-term temporary position as an Investigation Engineer in the Wastewater Department, with the potential for permanent employment.

About the Position

The Wastewater Department is responsible for operating, managing, and developing 10 wastewater treatment plants and approximately 130 pumping stations within Uppsala Municipality. Currently, the program directive for the renovation and expansion of Kungsängen Treatment Plant, one of Sweden's largest treatment plants, is underway, and several other major reinvestment and new investment projects are planned within the wastewater sector.

You will work in the Process and Development Section, which consists of process engineers, investigation engineers, project engineers, as well as operations technicians within SCADA/IT and instrumentation. You will report to the Section Manager for Process and Development, and your workplace will be at Kungsängen Treatment Plant in Uppsala.

As a temporary Investigation Engineer, you will contribute to securing the daily process and developing future wastewater treatment plants. You will support both investigation engineers and process engineers, working in a varied role with both operational and strategic tasks. You serve as a crucial link between operations, process, and development, helping the business meet current and future requirements.

The tasks are varied and include, among other things:

  • Conducting investigations and projects
  • Participating in tests and sampling
  • Monitoring and optimizing the treatment process
  • Performing daily process control and checklists
  • Developing instructions and routines
  • Contributing to research projects

The work is scheduled during daytime hours, usually between 7:00 AM and 4:00 PM. The temporary position is initially fixed-term for 1 year, starting during the summer. There is a possibility for the position to convert into a permanent employment.

Qualifications

  • Relevant engineering degree or equivalent education in environmental and water technology, chemistry, or similar
  • Good ability to express yourself in writing in Swedish
  • Good computer skills
  • Enjoy practical and administrative work
  • Are meticulous and responsible, with the ability to work independently, follow instructions and checklists, and collaborate well with others
  • Valid B-driver's license

Merits

  • Work experience within the water and wastewater industry or other relevant technical experience
  • Experience with investigations, process work, or research and development
  • Experience in maintenance or operations
  • Knowledge of treatment processes at wastewater treatment plants
