Project Manager for Urban Planning and Infrastructure, Nyköping

About Us
Region Sörmland is responsible for ensuring that the inhabitants of Södermanland have access to equal, high-quality healthcare and dental care, a well-functioning public transport system, a rich cultural offering, and a good environment. The Region also has the government's mandate to drive regional development work and coordinate development efforts in areas such as urban planning, infrastructure, business, tourism, and competence supply.

The Urban Planning and Infrastructure department is responsible for regional urban planning (spatial planning), transport infrastructure planning including strategic public transport planning, energy transition, and climate transition. In addition, we work with sustainable transport and travel, as well as digital infrastructure in the county.

Your Responsibilities

We are looking for a driven project manager who can lead larger EU-funded development projects within strategic urban planning. You will be the central hub in our projects and will lead and develop strategic projects within regional strategic planning, with a clear connection to creating a sustainably developed Södermanland. With your experience, you will strengthen our ability to drive projects and develop our structures, roles, and processes, as well as drive our sustainable regional development.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning, leading, and monitoring the projects.
  • Having a cross-disciplinary perspective on development and steering the projects towards our goals.
  • Ensuring delivery against goals, time, and budget.
  • Reporting to the steering group and management.
  • Leading processes, dialogues, collaboration, and partnerships with authorities, regions, municipalities, and businesses based on the projects' roles and assignments.
  • Managing changes and risks.
  • Driving analyses, evaluations, and follow-ups.

The work involves leading working groups, initiating and driving projects, developing well-thought-out proposals, presenting and explaining complex issues to different target groups, and driving development within the area. It also means that you must be able to handle changes and uncertainties in the steps towards the goal. Sustainability perspectives are an important starting point in all our work.

We help each other in a boundary-crossing way and value each other's knowledge in a flat organizational culture, which means that you will work broadly with the department's issues for the common goal in our regional development strategy.

Your Competence

You have:

  • A university/college education, either as a civil engineer, a university college engineer in the field of urban planning, or a bachelor's or master's degree in the field of urban planning.
  • Several years of experience in leading complex projects.
  • Experience in collaborative projects.
  • Experience in reporting and follow-up.
  • Documented competence in project management.
  • Good analytical skills.
  • Ability to lead processes and working groups.
  • Fluent in spoken and written Swedish and English.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience from politically governed organizations.
  • Experience in urban planning or regional development.
  • Experience with external funding/EU projects.

You have good cooperation skills and the ability to build relationships. As a project manager, you need to be able to plan and prioritize independently and be comfortable taking initiative and making things happen that leave an imprint in everyday life. As a person, you are structured and result-oriented with clear direction towards the goals of the projects and the operations. You are good at expressing yourself both verbally and in writing, have the ability to adapt your communication to different target groups, and are comfortable giving presentations.

You want to contribute to sustainable societal development, are curious, have a good holistic view, and see development opportunities and synergies that you can convey and anchor with others. You have an understanding of the responsibilities, roles, and perspectives related to the regional development mandate.

To thrive in the role, you are engaged, communicative, and creative. You have integrity, are clear, and have good cooperation skills. You are good at solving the problems you are faced with, as well as taking own initiatives and working independently. As a person, you have a great commitment and good ability to lead development projects in complex environments.

We place great emphasis on personal qualities.
