Medical Secretary at Administrative Service for Care (VAS) – Develop, Influence, and Make a Difference!
Welcome to Akademiska sjukhuset, one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. As a county hospital and provider of highly specialized care, we offer healthcare to two million people in Central Sweden. Here, something is always happening – a new life is born, a grandmother undergoes surgery, a colleague is hailed as a hero. Here, you will experience both challenging trials and fantastic events, within a strong community of colleagues. We welcome your application!
Our Operations
Administrative Service for Care (VAS) is a hospital-wide organization where medical secretaries, administrators, and receptionists provide administrative support for all operations within the hospital. This means you will become an important part of the care chain at one of Sweden's largest university hospitals, characterized by high competence, specialized care, choice options, and immense breadth.
The role of medical secretary is undergoing a transformation where we are moving towards broader and more coordinating roles with tasks including, among other things, appointment scheduling. We are strengthening the role at Akademiska sjukhuset, contributing to freed-up time for healthcare staff through task rotation.
We regularly organize joint inspiration and training days as well as targeted training programs for our professional role. Here, there are great opportunities for varied work, and it is important to us that employees can grow and develop within our organization.
We are leaders in Sweden in diagnostic classification, and we strive to maintain this position through continuous further education for our employees.
Your Assignment
The role of medical secretary at Akademiska sjukhuset faces significant change due to the advancement of digitalization, particularly regarding speech recognition; therefore, task rotation is our major focus area.
Correctly applied competence leads to efficient and accurate care flows, and in this, you as a medical secretary play a central and important role. Our assignment includes constant development and improvement.
We are therefore looking for you who want to develop and strengthen our professional role within healthcare administration with increased patient contact and new exciting tasks. The assignment as a medical secretary/healthcare administrator may include responsibility for booking patient visits based on waiting lists, as well as associated healthcare administration. Work with cross-county care and referral handling may occur, which requires good administrative skills and knowledge in the area. The role involves close collaboration with doctors, healthcare staff, and other healthcare providers to contribute to an efficient patient flow and a well-functioning care process. Dictation writing may occur depending on the unit's needs and the assignment's design.
Your Qualifications
We are looking for you who have a completed education in Health and Social Care Administration (80p Higher Education Diploma/400p Vocational Higher Education Diploma) or equivalent education for medical secretaries. You have very good knowledge of the Swedish language in speech and writing. Furthermore, you have good IT skills in a Windows environment. We would appreciate if you have experience with diagnostic classification, and previous work in Cosmic is considered meritorious.
Your Competence
To work as a medical secretary with us requires a high sense of responsibility and precision so that the administration around patients functions in a patient-safe manner. To succeed in your role, we see that you can collaborate well with all professional categories and have a good ability to adapt to new conditions and situations. In pressurized situations, you easily adjust and prioritize work based on the hospital's needs.
You see the value of a flexible approach, are interested in the digital development of our care systems, and thrive working both independently and together with colleagues. Your sense of service, commitment, and positive attitude contribute to a good work climate, where we all help each other and collaborate to achieve the best care quality for our patients. We would appreciate your participation in the development of routines and working methods.
We value that you maintain your specialist knowledge on your own initiative and enjoy being a knowledge resource for others.
