Your Role

We are expanding our team and are now looking for a Pedagogical Assistant to join us at the Adapted Primary School!

This position also involves teaching Physical Education and Health as well as motor skills for all base groups. The teaching, including planning time, is estimated at approximately 35%. The remaining time, you will work as a pedagogical assistant in school and during after-school care.

As a teacher in Physical Education and Health, you are responsible for teaching the subject to our students. You inspire and motivate the students to move and engage in physical activity. You plan, conduct, and follow up on teaching in accordance with current guidelines and with a starting point in the students' individual prerequisites. In your work, you create a safe, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment where all students are given the opportunity to develop their physical abilities, joy of movement, and understanding of health and well-being.

The role of pedagogical assistant means that you follow the students throughout their entire day with us, which includes after-school care in addition to school days. This requires that you have a genuine interest and a deeper understanding of the students' needs. You will support the student in social situations, practice daily tasks, support the student in various activities during breaks, in the changing room, during toilet visits, meals, transfers, excursions, etc. During holidays, you work at the after-school care.

You have close cooperation with teaching teachers where you both receive instructions and collaborate on how the work should be performed. Your role involves maintaining close contact and collaborating closely with other staff at the school and other actors regarding the students. The work requires that you are flexible, have good cooperation skills, and are accustomed to working in teams.

The employment is a permanent position with holiday service; a probationary period may apply.

Description of the Workplace

The Adapted Primary School is located at Stenbergaskolan, in the industrial community of Ljusne at the mouth of the Ljusnan river. We are close to forests, rivers, and the sea. The school area also includes the primary school grades F-9 and Ljusne Preschool. Here, the public library and the school library share premises. The two school buildings are from the 1950s and 1970s and have been renovated several times over the years to adapt to the operations.

The Adapted Primary School consists of nine student groups with a total of 45 students, from grade 1-9. Two of the student groups study subjects, and seven groups study towards subject areas.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a qualified primary school teacher in Physical Education and Health or a licensed teacher in after-school care. Furthermore, it is meritorious if you have worked in an adapted primary school or with persons with intellectual disabilities and/or autism. We would appreciate it if you have knowledge of AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) and use/have used it in your work.

To fit the role of pedagogical assistant with us at the Adapted Primary School, you need to be adaptable to changing circumstances. It is important that you work well with other people as the staff collaborates and works closely together, both within and between teams. You can take initiative and start activities, as well as have a forward-thinking mindset and come up with ideas for new approaches.
