Do you want to contribute with analyses and statistics that make a difference for Västerås' development?

As an analyst at the City Management Office, you work with societal issues that form the basis for the municipality's planning and political decisions. The work involves great variation and many contact surfaces, where you work broadly with background material, analyses, and forecasts!

Your responsibilities

You have a cross-administrative responsibility for statistics and analysis with a broad scope in your assignments. You function as an analytical support for Västerås City's various operations and collaborate closely with both colleagues and other parts of the organization.

Your work focuses primarily on register data within areas such as population, education, housing, and employment. You work with producing, quality assuring, and compiling statistics about the municipality's inhabitants, as well as conducting in-depth analyses within various societal areas. The work also includes population forecasts and analyses of the residents' living conditions. You also contribute to the development and management of tools for visualizing and reporting statistics in the city's internal and external channels.

You will become part of the statistics and analysis function within the Sustainability Unit, which belongs to the Strategic Societal Development business area. The team consists of three analysts with their own areas of responsibility who work closely together and complement each other's competencies.

Your qualifications

At your core, you have an academic education in, for example, social sciences or similar, and we would appreciate it if you have studied statistics as part of your education. You have good knowledge of Microsoft Office, and especially Excel. If you have experience with statistical processing programs such as Stata, SPSS, or R, as well as Power Pivot and Power Query, it is a plus.

You have current experience working with societal analyses and statistics in areas that are significant for municipal development, and you can conduct in-depth analyses, cross-reference facts, and draw conclusions based on the statistics. Experience working in public administration or other politically directed operations is advantageous.

You are accustomed and confident in presenting statistics and analyses in a clear and easy-to-understand manner, adapting your communication to the target audience. You drive your work forward independently and structured, while maintaining close collaboration with colleagues and other parts of the organization. It is natural for you to create and develop good working relationships, and you thrive in contexts with many contact surfaces in your daily work. You see the big picture in your work and understand how different areas and operations are connected in the municipality's mission, using this in your assessments and analyses.

In connection with the interview, you need to prove your citizenship. You can do this with a passport or alternatively a population registration certificate together with an ID document. If you are not a citizen of Sweden, the EU, EEA, or Switzerland, you must show that you have a valid work permit or are exempt from the obligation to have a work permit. Employment can only take place after verification of the work permit, which is required according to the Aliens Ordinance.
