Everyone in Sweden should have access to safe food and drinking water – even in times of crisis or war. The Swedish Food Agency plays a crucial role here, and we are now ramping up our efforts. Do you want to contribute to our capacity-building work and the establishment of a new food emergency preparedness? Here you have the opportunity to work with national support for municipalities and regions and make a difference.
Food Supply Unit
The positions are located within the Food Supply Unit and serve to strengthen support for municipalities and regions in their work on food supply. We are leading the development of a new food emergency preparedness. The focus is on national coordination of crisis and emergency planning for food supply, in the stages following primary production. We support municipalities, regions, and businesses in their work on food supply. We work closely with the food industry through various projects, as well as through the public-private partnership group within the food chain for which the Swedish Food Agency is responsible.
The Food Supply Unit is one of five units within the Department for Food and Drinking Water Supply. The department works to enhance capabilities in drinking water and food supply. To solve tasks and assignments, we often collaborate across the different units within the department, as well as with other departments within the agency.
Your Role
As an employee, you will, among other things, support municipalities and regions in their work on food emergency preparedness. You will develop support materials, guiding texts, and methods that strengthen food emergency preparedness in socially vital operations, such as public meal services in schools, healthcare, and elderly care. This may also involve creating training and exercise materials and guidelines for measures to increase robustness. The role involves strategic development work focusing on needs analysis, coordination, and follow-up. Additionally, you will contribute to and, in some cases, lead the agency's development projects within civil defense and food emergency preparedness.
You will be part of a competent and engaged team where collaboration, knowledge sharing, and initiative are in focus. As an employee in the Food Supply Unit, you will work with a focus on building a stronger food emergency preparedness. You are expected to contribute to the unit's and the agency's other work related to food supply. The field is developing rapidly, which means the nature of the work may shift over time.
You monitor the external environment to gain new perspectives, maintain relevant competence, and adapt your work to the demands and conditions of the operations. It is important that you stay updated and follow trends by engaging with research, investigations, and communication from Swedish municipalities and regions, as well as other information relevant to your mission to contribute to enhancing capabilities in municipal, regional, and national supply preparedness.
Your Competence
We are looking for you who have a higher education or university degree relevant to the position, or other experience that the employer considers equivalent. You have a very good understanding of crisis preparedness and total defense, as well as experience working in the field or in related operations. To succeed in the role, you also have the ability to work strategically and contribute to developing food emergency preparedness.
Experience working at a state authority or other public operations is desirable. Another desirable experience is work in a municipality, region, or other authority, for example as a preparedness officer or a corresponding role in emergency planning. This also includes experience from the food area, meal services, or exercises/training within the preparedness area.
You have very good knowledge of Swedish in speech and writing, and good knowledge of English is desirable.
Your Personal Qualities
You act responsibly, collaboratively, and developmentally. You are solution-focused and invite and are open to collaborations and new perspectives that improve our deliverables. You enjoy working in teams and are open to new ways of working, sharing competence and learnings to strengthen our collective capability.
You are a good communicator with the ability to present and communicate information clearly and engagingly, both orally and in writing. You easily build relationships and networks both internally and externally.
Great importance will be attached to personal suitability.
