Career Counselor for Vallbacks and Nynäs Schools

The position is aimed at Vallbacks School (grades 7-9) and Nynäs School (grades 7-9). The schools are within walking distance, and loan bicycles are available if needed. You will work on behalf of the principal of each respective school area.

The schools have previously had close collaboration and also employ a student coordinator. This coordinator, together with the schools' existing career counselors, student health services, and school leadership, is tasked with developing our work in the areas of guidance, motivation, and hope for the future. You will work independently but also in close collaboration with others.

We are now taking further steps in our development work to support our students in their choices for the future.

We are therefore looking for you who have a special commitment to students with low school motivation and who want to create conditions for students to find their path forward in life. A key part of your assignment will be to establish contacts and partnerships within the local labor and business community, thereby creating opportunities for internships (PRAO) and career guidance. In close collaboration with the student coordinator, support measures such as internship placements will be developed.

Job Responsibilities

As a career counselor, you support, follow up on, and guide students throughout their entire junior high school years. Career choice competence, motivation, and hope for the future are key concepts in your work. You collaborate with teachers, the schools' student coordinators, career counselors, student health services, student coaches, and school leadership.

Your responsibilities include, among other things:

• You work to build networks with companies and organizations outside the school.
• You are responsible for students' internships (PRAO) and various support measures such as internship placements.
• You support students in making well-informed decisions about study and career paths in both the short and long term.
• You work with students individually as well as in groups.
• You are an important part of the work to develop the schools' organizations and thus the students' conditions.

Qualifications

As a career counselor, you work with a coaching approach where, through an inspiring and motivating attitude, you support students in discovering their opportunities and finding their future path.

We are looking for you who have:

• A degree as a career counselor.
• Good experience working with digital tools and using them effectively in your work.
• Good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both verbally and in writing, which is crucial in communication with students, guardians, and colleagues.
• Experience working as a career counselor is considered an asset for the position.

To succeed in the role, you are:

• Skilled at creating and maintaining good relationships, both internally within the school and externally with various stakeholders. You collaborate well with people in different roles and contexts.
• You have good ability to plan and organize your work, set clear goals, allocate resources effectively, and follow up on and complete activities in a structured manner.
• You are solution-oriented and have an easy time handling emerging challenges by identifying and implementing relevant solutions.
• Your approach is coaching-oriented, and you have a natural ability to lead, motivate, and inspire others. You contribute to the development and well-being of others, create open dialogue, and adapt your leadership style to the situation and needs. You build trusting relationships and create a sense of security among the students you work with.

You must be able to present a police certificate of good conduct (criminal record check) for work in schools or preschools. This should not be attached to the application.
