Do you want to lead one of social services' most central areas together with dedicated unit managers and staff? The Individual and Family Care department is now looking for a secure and development-oriented Area Manager for the Social Assistance area, who wishes to continue developing support for Jönköping's residents during a time when the mission is changing and being tested to its limits.

Your new job

As an Area Manager, you report to the Functional Manager and are part of the Individual and Family Care leadership group. You are responsible for strategic planning, steering, and follow-up of the operations, as well as having full budget and personnel responsibility.

The assignment involves ensuring that the operations comply with current legislation and are run with high quality and efficiency. You lead through your unit managers, creating clarity, structure, and direction within a complex organization.

The role involves a position at the intersection of strategy and operational reality. You are responsible for both stably leading the operations here and now – and simultaneously driving development forward.

With upcoming changes regarding activity requirements from July 1st, you will play a key role in interpreting, implementing, and translating the new requirements into practice, together with project managers and staff. This places high demands on your leadership, your ability to drive change, and your ability to create security within the organization during the transition.

Your qualifications

We are looking for you who have a social work degree or another approved and completed relevant higher education degree of at least bachelor's level (180 ECTS credits).

You have:

  • Several years of experience in social work within public administration, preferably within financial assistance/social support
  • Documented management experience from a politically governed organization, including responsibility for operations, budget, and personnel
  • Good knowledge of relevant legislation
  • Experience in driving successful development and change processes

As a leader, you are secure, clear, and courageous. You have a strategic holistic perspective and can simultaneously translate decisions into practice. You lead with trust, create engagement, and build sustainable collaborations both internally and externally. You have good analytical skills, are structured and results-oriented, and thrive in a role characterized by complexity, change, and a high pace.

A B-class driver's license is an advantage.

Welcome to us

Individual and Family Care is part of the Social Administration and is organized into three areas: Child and Youth Care, Adults, and Social Assistance and Integration.

The Social Assistance and Integration area covers financial assistance, integration housing, immigrant and refugee activities, budget and debt counseling, and interpreter services. Within the area, approximately 95 employees work, distributed across six units, each with its own unit manager. There are also employees responsible for investigating incorrect payments and operational development.

Good to know

The recruitment concerns a full-time position as Area Manager with start date as agreed. You work on-site in our operations. Probationary employment may be applied. Testing tools will be used in the process.

All employment must be verified, and it must be clear to what extent you have worked, what type of employment was relevant, and what position you held. Interviews for the position will be held on June 8th and 10th. If you apply for the position and are called for an interview, you need to be available on these days. Union interviews will also be held in connection with the employer's interviews.

In connection with employment, you must present the extract from the Swedish Police Authority's register required for the position. This must be presented before the employment contract is signed.
