Your new job

As Head of Unit for Earthworks and Asphalt, you belong to the Production operation, which is part of the Technical Office. You are responsible for the unit located in Klämmestorp. You lead and distribute work to the unit's 14 employees, who hold positions as construction workers and asphalt pavers, performing work within the municipality's streets, roads, parks, and squares.

Jönköping Municipality is in an expansive phase, which places high demands on municipal organizations. We need to further develop sustainable strategies and routines to deliver the customer service our residents deserve, in a sustainable and resource-efficient manner.

As Head of Unit, you have great opportunities to influence both strategic and operational work. You report to the Operations Manager and work closely with fellow managers, coordinators, and operational staff in your daily work. Naturally, you also interact with external actors, departments within your own administration, and other departments within the municipality.

In your role, you are responsible for the unit/operation, personnel, working environment, and budget. This includes, for example, operational development to meet our customers' needs, recruitment and onboarding of new employees, rehabilitation and workplace adaptation, salary setting and salary reviews, systematic work environment work, employee development, and economic follow-up.

Requirements:

• University degree; relevant higher education or alternatively a University College degree (YH) that the employer deems equivalent. Substantial and relevant work experience from the field can replace the educational requirement.
• A few years of experience in a leadership position where personnel, working environment, and budget, as well as development and change work, have been included.
• Good IT skills, computer and system proficiency, and knowledge of the Office package.
• Good ability to express yourself well in speech and writing in Swedish.
• Driver's license B, manual transmission.
• Ability to participate in the emergency preparedness organization.

Merits:

• Previous work experience as a manager within earthworks contracting.
• Previous experience from public sector operations.
• Experience of emergency preparedness work.
• Additional education/course in leadership.

Welcome to us

As Head of Unit, you become part of the Technical Office and the Street, Park, and Forest department, which is responsible for operation, maintenance, reinvestment, and development of existing land infrastructure within Jönköping Municipality. The department is the custodian of streets, roads, squares, parks, playgrounds, nature reserves, forests, parking, harbors, ferry traffic, industrial tracks, as well as internal vehicle service.

Good to know

The recruitment concerns a permanent position starting as soon as possible after agreement. The nature of the position presupposes mostly on-site work. On-call duty is included in the position.
