Upplandsstiftelsen is the custodian of the Uppland Trail, but we also own and manage several nature reserves, natural areas, campgrounds, and cabins. We preserve and care for Uppsala County's nature through practical nature conservation, inventories, and management programs for different nature types, plants, and animals.

We collaborate widely with municipalities, authorities, associations, landowners, companies, and individuals to create value and knowledge flow in joint projects and activities.

Our goal is to contribute to improved public health by making nature accessible, offering attractive hiking and paddling trails, spreading information, and organizing outdoor activities, especially for groups who are somewhat further from outdoor life.

About the position

The current CEO is retiring after six years in the role, and we are therefore looking for a successor who wants to continue developing Upplandsstiftelsen and its important work for nature, outdoor life, and public health.

As CEO, you report directly to the Board of Directors and are responsible for steering, running, and developing the operations. You have responsibility for the budget, personnel, and operations. At Upplandsstiftelsen, 21 competent employees work, some of whom have subordinate staff. In addition to the office staff, about 20 supervisors are out in the landscape to manage and maintain properties and land.

The role includes, among other things:

• Ensuring a long-term stable economy with good cost control and quality follow-up of operations.
• Leading an attractive workplace that ensures a good working environment and effective methods for collaboration and operational development.
• Continuing to develop structured and methodical collaboration with external actors.
• Preparing issues for and planning board meetings together with the Chair of the Board.
• Serving as a presenter in the working committee and the Board.

As CEO, you naturally have strategic responsibility, but you also perform tasks of a more operational nature. You develop collaborations where both nature, outdoor life, and business are considered. Upplandsstiftelsen has a wide range of partners, from public operations to nature conservation organizations, researchers, non-profit associations, and companies, from large forestry companies to individual entrepreneurs.

About you

You thrive in and are good at communicating, building relationships, and developing collaborations – both internally and externally. You enjoy being in the midst of operations to handle changes and drive development processes toward good results. You are well-informed about the public debate on nature conservation, outdoor life, and public health, and have the ability to see which direction Upplandsstiftelsen should take in various issues and development phases. You are communicative, accommodating, and open to others' perspectives; you build trust and facilitate dialogue and discussion with well-founded arguments and knowledge within the field. You enjoy complex issues that require analysis and a holistic view.

Just like the rest of us who work at Upplandsstiftelsen, you naturally have a strong and lively interest in outdoor life, nature conservation issues, and primary industries!

Qualifications

You have a relevant university degree in natural sciences, preferably linked to nature conservation. You have several years of experience in a managerial role and are expected to lead your colleagues in a continuous development process. Qualified knowledge of the prerequisites for nature conservation and familiarity with outdoor life are important to us, as well as knowledge of and preferably experience with primary industries and public health work.

Since one of our main funders is Region Uppsala, we would appreciate that you have good insight into and understanding of how politically governed operations function.

Your Swedish is very good in both speech and writing, and your English is good. A B-class driver's license is a requirement. You are a proficient computer user and quickly adapt to different types of system support.
