You now have the opportunity to work as a psychologist at Syncentralen, a county-wide specialist unit responsible for the rehabilitation/habilitation of children and adults with visual impairments. The position is located in Uppsala.

Here, you will become a key resource and enjoy stimulating and varied work with pleasant colleagues in a pleasant environment. You will work together with optometrists, counselors, vision educators, ICT-pedagogues (information and communication technology pedagogues), and technicians. We offer a fixed-term position at 60% for six months, with a start date to be agreed upon.

Your Assignment

Your responsibilities will be to drive psychological rehabilitation at Syncentralen. You will work with children, adults, and seniors in Syncentralen's three age-divided teams. You will also be part of the team for individuals with combined visual and hearing impairments/deafblindness in collaboration with Hörcentralen (The Hearing Center).

The work involves providing individual support and treatment, as well as psychological support to relatives and networks.

The role also includes developing and leading groups.

We use the medical record system Cosmic.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a licensed psychologist. You need to have experience in clinical work, and we would appreciate it if you had experience in habilitation/rehabilitation. Experience with individuals with visual impairments is an advantage. If you lack experience, it is important to have an interest in the visual field and a willingness to learn from knowledgeable colleagues. We place special emphasis on teamwork skills, as well as the ability to work independently and the drive to develop high-quality rehabilitation services.

Our Operations

In the Hearing and Vision services, over 60 people work, distributed across three units: Hörcentralen, Syncentralen, and Döv- och dövblindcentralen (Deaf and Deafblind Center). We are part of the Primary Care and Health administration in Region Uppsala and are located at Kronparksgården in the Ulleråker area.

At Syncentralen, we work in various ways to facilitate and improve daily life for those with visual impairments or blindness through habilitation, rehabilitation, and other collaborative measures. This may include counseling, training, fitting, and education in the use of visual aids, as well as participation in group activities. We work in teams: a children and youth team and an adult team, totaling 15 employees. All teams consist of an optometrist, a vision educator, and a counselor; all teams have access to a psychologist, technicians, and an ICT-pedagogue.

All three units within the Hearing and Vision services share a common waiting room and joint support from administrative coordinators.

Together, we contribute to enabling people with visual impairments to live a good life.

In addition to the units within the Hearing and Vision services, we collaborate closely with other units within our administration, as well as with staff in preschools, schools, housing facilities, and day activities, along with municipal vision instructors.
