The Department of Environmental Sciences (ACES) is one of the larger departments within the Faculty of Science. The department consists of four units with approximately 170 employees, including researchers, teachers, doctoral students, and technical/administrative staff. The research spans environmental chemistry, ecotoxicology, atmospheric science, and biogeochemistry, maintaining a high international level with a focus on current environmental and sustainability challenges. We are now looking for an economist who wants to work broadly with qualified economic issues in a research-oriented environment, where you have good opportunities to influence and develop the work.

Responsibilities

As an economist at ACES, you have an independent and varied assignment where you work with accounting and financial monitoring of both research projects and grant funds. You will primarily work towards a research unit but also be responsible for some of the department's EU projects. You are part of the department's administrative group of 12 people working within finance, HR, study administration, study guidance, IT, premises, and security.

You will work with, among other things:

  • project reporting and administration of research projects
  • ongoing accounting (bookkeeping, invoicing, and internal charging)
  • budget, annual accounts, and financial monitoring
  • support to the operations in economic matters, such as budget work and calculations
  • development and improvement of routines and processes.

The role also includes analysis, reporting to funders, and participation in budget and forecast work. Other administrative tasks may occur.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • University education in economics and several years of experience in qualified economic work, for example as an economist or controller.
  • Experience in project reporting and reporting to Swedish research funders.
  • Experience in project reporting for EU projects.
  • Experience in economic work within higher education or universities.
  • Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
  • Good knowledge of the Office package, especially Excel.

Merits

  • Knowledge of regulations within the public sector and/or the higher education sector.
  • Experience with the financial system Raindance.

We are looking for you who work in a structured, analytical, and careful manner with a strong commitment. You are self-motivated and take great responsibility for your tasks, drive your work forward, and ensure delivery with high quality.

You have good planning skills and a consultative approach, and enjoy solving problems in collaboration with others.

The role involves many contact surfaces, and you have good communication skills and can explain economic issues in a clear and pedagogical way, even to people without an economic background.

You are unpretentious and have the ability to work independently as well as structure and prioritize your work even during periods of high workload.

The work takes place in an international environment, which requires you to express yourself well in Swedish and English.

Great importance is attached to personal suitability.

About the position

The employment is permanent on a full-time basis with a six-month probationary period. Stockholm University applies individual salary setting. Start date by agreement.
