Mechanical Design Engineer with a focus on precision and innovation

Spectrogon AB is a Swedish technology company with its headquarters and own production facilities in Täby, north of Stockholm. We develop and manufacture advanced optical components such as optical filters, thin-film coatings, and diffraction gratings. Our products are used globally in fields such as medical diagnostics, industrial process control, environmental monitoring, robotics, and optical communications.

We are now looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer who wants to work in a high-tech environment where precision, quality, and innovation are at the center.

About the role

As a Mechanical Design Engineer at Spectrogon, you will work on the design of precision mechanics, often in close collaboration with optical systems. You will be responsible for designing details and solutions that are taken all the way from concept to finished product in our own production environment.

The role is hands-on and technically deep, where careful tolerance setting, material selection, and understanding of manufacturing processes are crucial. You will become part of an engaged and knowledgeable team where collaboration between design, production, and development takes place in daily work.

We are looking for someone who has

• A university or civil engineering degree in Mechanics, with a focus on design and construction
• Good knowledge of CAD, preferably AutoCAD
• Good understanding of tolerances and fine precision
• Knowledge of material selection (metals, glass, ceramics, plastics) taking into account both mechanical and optical requirements

Advantageous experience

• Strength calculations and FEM analyses
• Manufacturing methods such as milling, turning, injection molding, and 3D printing
• Understanding of vacuum technology, optical fixtures, assembly methods, cleanroom requirements, and temperature variations
• Experience from the optical industry or similar high-tech operations

The work takes place in close collaboration with mechanical workshops, which means that a Category B driver's license is required for recurring visits and follow-ups.
