The work consists of interesting and varied tasks at the air operational command level. About the department/section
The Intelligence and Security Department (A2) leads the function in the Air Force, including collection and collection management at all readiness levels. The main task is to support the Chief of the Air Force and the Air Staff with decision support and environmental monitoring during the air combat forces' various national and international activities. The operations are conducted in collaboration with ground and naval forces, as well as joint operations, both nationally and internationally, together with other nations, organizations, and authorities. The department functionally leads subordinate units regarding intelligence and security services.
Main responsibilities
The goal of the position is that, after guidance and with support from present managers, you can staff the situation room independently as well as in a combat pair. The situation role works at the Air Force's operations command and conducts much of its activities together with other parts of the Air Staff, serving as one of A2's representatives in the command team.
As a duty officer in the situation room, your main responsibility is to coordinate and prepare collection missions, process information from collection activities, and stay updated on the air situation picture. Your main task is also to disseminate intelligence both nationally and internationally, in writing and orally.
The position also involves collaboration with other departments, authorities, and countries with which the Air Force cooperates. There will also be requirements for a willingness for self-study and the ability to take initiative to solve tasks. Your reports are shared with key stakeholders within the Swedish Armed Forces and also NATO, which places high demands on accuracy and quality.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
- Completed Swedish conscription, GMU, or equivalent Swedish military basic training with a passing result
- Structured and good ability to handle large amounts of information
- Good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish and English
- Category B driver's license.
Personal qualities
As a person, you have a good ability to work both independently and together with others. You have good analytical skills and can overview wholes and systems without overlooking consequences at the detail level. You are initiative-driven and motivated with a desire to learn new things and dare to participate actively to find solutions to problems.
You have a good ability to collaborate with others and value good cooperation between functions as well as branches of the armed forces/forces. Stress resistance and the ability to handle changed situations and quickly arising tasks are desirable qualities.
Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities and suitability.
Merits
- Staff service training or equivalent competence acquired through previous experience/service
- Training and/or knowledge within intelligence and security services
- Training and/or knowledge regarding air and space combat forces
- Experience handling classified information
- Experience and knowledge of the Swedish Armed Forces' IT systems
- Completed Continued Group Commander Training (FGBU)
- Additional language skills besides English
- Studies at university/college.
