We are currently looking for a new Kantor (Church Musician) for St. Ansgar's Parish in Eskilstuna. The position is full-time and offers a unique opportunity to help shape the musical life in a vibrant and diverse parish.

St. Ansgar's Parish is part of the Eskilstuna Pastorate, which consists of four parishes, two preschools, and a funeral service. There is also extensive support operations here that create good conditions for the parishes to focus on their core activities.

St. Ansgar's Parish is located in the city center, in an area full of life, diversity, and exciting encounters. Here we work together – priests, deacons, educators, musicians, hostesses, and caretakers. The parish consists of two churches – Ansgarskyrkan (1962) and Tomaskyrkan (1993) – and are natural meeting places for people with different cultural backgrounds. Today, the team consists of approximately 10 employees with different professional roles, three of whom will be your closest music colleagues.

The parish cooperates closely with the rural parish of the pastorate, Västra Rekarne, which is characterized by beautiful medieval churches dating back to the 1100s, beautiful natural environments, and many engaged voluntary workers.

Job Responsibilities

With us, you will have a unique opportunity to work with the parish's musical activities in an inclusive and inspiring environment. We are looking for you who want to work broadly, engage, and develop the parish's activities and musical life in close collaboration with colleagues.

Your duties will include playing at worship services and church ceremonies. Furthermore, you will help develop music activities focused on children and young people. With your musical competence, you will help develop, enrich, and inspire the parish's life.

In addition to the above responsibilities, other musical projects, activities, and the pastorate's overarching arrangements may be included. The work also involves some administrative tasks and travel within the pastorate.

The position is located in St. Ansgar's Parish, but duties also include work in Västra Rekarne Parish.

Work on evenings, weekends, and major holidays is included.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have:

  • A Kantor education according to the Church of Sweden's church musician examination at least at level C, or other musician education that the employer considers equivalent
  • Good computer skills as this is part of daily work
  • Good knowledge of Swedish in both speech and writing as this is part of daily work
  • Membership in the Church of Sweden and share the Church of Sweden's fundamental values
  • Category B driver's license (since the pastorate is geographically extensive and travel occurs)
