Nyköping City Library consists of a main library, two branches, and a book bus that visits over 90 stops in Nyköping Municipality. We have many visitors of all ages who read, borrow media or computers, study, and participate in our events. As a public library, we have an important democratic mission concerning everyone's right to knowledge.

The City Library is part of the Culture and Library operations, along with the units Culture School and Creative Meeting Places. The division we belong to is Business, Culture, and Leisure. The division's mission is to provide the municipality's residents, businesses, and associations with good service and a wide range of experiences and activities for development and growth. RESPONSIBILITIES

We are now looking for a Librarian Pedagogue specializing in youth in social vulnerability for a newly established position at Nyköping City Library.

Together with a knowledgeable and creative team of youth librarians, you will lead and develop the library's work with young people aged approximately 10–19 in socio-economic vulnerability. The purpose is to create a safe and meaningful library service for all young people and strengthen the work promoting reading. The role will involve staffing and activities at the library's youth section on certain afternoons, as well as outreach work where you collaborate with other actors to reach young people who do not currently participate in the library's activities. The assignment includes identifying structural barriers to young people's reading experiences and participation in library activities. These barriers may be linked to socio-economic factors, gender, background, functional variations, and experiences. Your role will be to develop working methods together with your colleagues to work around these barriers and create a more inclusive library service with more young readers.

The position also includes staffing the library during daytime hours and other library-wide tasks. Previous library experience is not a requirement, but the role involves learning the daily work at the library and being able to answer questions about books and other library services from visitors of all ages.

Working hours are primarily during office hours, but evenings and weekends occur regularly. It is important that you can work at times when young people are off, i.e., after school hours, so working hours will partly need to be scheduled after 17:00.

QUALIFICATIONS

Requirements:

• Education as a social pedagogue, social worker, or treatment pedagogue
• Experience working with young people in their leisure time
• Experience working in socio-economically vulnerable areas/social vulnerability
• Fluent Swedish in speech and writing
• Interest and commitment to reading and the library's mission in general, and young people's reading in particular

Merits:

• Knowledge of languages spoken by many residents of Nyköping besides Swedish, e.g., Arabic or Somali

• Experience in reading promotion work or other cultural activities targeting young people
