The Church of Sweden's Economic Service is now looking for Economists

to Uppsala

Our operations

We continue to grow and are now looking for experienced economists for our office in Uppsala. Here you will work in a consultative capacity in a broad economic role and in a meaningful context. You have a good accounting background and experience working as an economic manager, controller or similar.

The Church of Sweden's Economic Service offers economic support to parishes, pastorates and dioceses in the Church of Sweden, both in the form of ongoing management and qualified support. We are organized in geographical units and are located in nine different places around the country. In the role of economist, you work with parishes, pastorates and dioceses primarily in your respective local area but also in other parts of the country.

We are on an exciting journey of change where we are developing both our working methods and collaboration within the Economic Service. We continuously work on refining and digitalizing our ways of working and are facing, among other things, an update of our working methods with the introduction of new processes and new system support.

Job responsibilities

As an economist, you work with qualified economic tasks and serve as a support in economic management and follow-up. This involves work with, among other things:

  • budget, accounts and reporting
  • preparation of reports, analyses and decision support
  • project work within the economic service

You work closely with parish priests, management and other contact persons in parishes, pastorates and dioceses, and also present the economy for elected officials in church councils and church assemblies. The relationship and contact with the parishes is important. Other tasks related to economic processes may also be included in the position, for example development projects within the economic services.

You work independently but have colleagues in similar roles close by to collaborate with. In the work groups, we value collaboration, helping each other and jointly taking responsibility for the whole. The work varies in intensity throughout the month and year, which means you need to work flexibly and task-oriented.

Our parishes, pastorates and dioceses appreciate that we are locally anchored, while at the same time developing common working methods for the benefit of the entire Church of Sweden.

We are looking for you who

  • have a degree in economics, preferably with a focus on accounting or controller function, or other education/experience that we assess as equivalent.
  • have several years of experience working within accounting, budgeting, accounts, annual accounts and tax return work.
  • are familiar with administrative systems and have good computer skills with a modern digital working method in relation to economic systems.
  • are used to working independently with accounts, budget, reconciliations and economic analysis.
  • have a B driving license.

We would like you to have worked in a similar role delivering services to external actors or customers. Experience from the business systems Microsoft Dynamics and/or Hypergene as well as system changes are meritorious.

You are an important employee

It is important that you enjoy working with us and that we enjoy working with you. For a successful match, we see that you are a flexible, structured and non-hierarchical person. It is important that you are comfortable in meetings with parishes/pastorates and work in a service-oriented manner. You have good pedagogical and communicative skills, are solution-oriented and have an understanding of your own role in the larger whole. You have critical thinking and analytical skills to identify and solve problems. Seeing opportunities for improvement and enjoying collaboration are prerequisites.

We offer

We offer a fun and developmental job where there are great opportunities to develop within the organization. The working environment is important to us, we value a good community at the workplace and value a sustainable working life with the possibility of working from home a couple of days a week. We have collective agreements, annual working time agreements, fitness allowance, fitness hour and lunch benefit.

Permanent full-time position with immediate effect or according to agreement.
