About American High School, Halmstad

The school is located within the Halmstad University campus. The school is now in its fourth academic year and has approximately 160 students studying on the Natural Science, Social Science, or Business programs. Teaching is conducted in both English and Swedish by a competent teaching team with a strong sense of community.

About the Role

We are looking for a substitute teacher who can teach our students in biology and chemistry. You are passionate about teaching your subjects and want to contribute to developing education at the school. You will be responsible for planning, conducting, assessing, and evaluating your own teaching. You are expected to lead lessons based on our pedagogical structure, for which you will receive guidance. You will work closely with an engaged and tight-knit teaching team, where collaboration and collegial learning are a natural part of daily life. You will teach in a digital environment using digital learning materials in combination with traditional literature. Teaching at the school is conducted in both Swedish and English.

Mentorship for a class may be included in the role.

The position is a part-time substitute role at 60%, running from August 3, 2026, to June 2027.

Your Profile

The position requires a Swedish teaching license, as well as qualifications to teach biology and chemistry at the upper secondary level. Experience in upper secondary education is also highly meritorious. You have a strong commitment to teaching and wish to develop the operations together with a strong team of colleagues, and you share our pedagogical view:
