Your Workplace

The clinic is organized within the Adult Psychiatry area of Region Värmland. In addition to the clinic in Kristinehamn, psychiatric outpatient care is available in Hagfors, Torsby, Arvika, Säffle, and Karlstad. The psychiatric clinic in Kristinehamn is centrally located, with a short commute to both Karlstad and Karlskoga.

We operate our unit in close cross-professional collaboration and with permanent specialist doctors. We are a stable and well-functioning clinic with low staff turnover across all professional categories and will be fully staffed upon the appointment of this position. You will work in a clinic with a good and supportive work climate, with clear and established routines. Here, you will work in a team with high competence that values the patient's best interests.

At the clinic in Kristinehamn, in addition to three other specialist doctors, psychologists, PTP psychologists, counselors, specialist nurses, and basic trained nurses, trainee doctors, care administrators, and occupational therapists work. We operate our activities in some of Region Värmland's finest premises and are investing in developing collaboration within the field of psychiatric outpatient care and with care partners.

Your Responsibilities

We face the need to staff our stable and competent medical group and are therefore looking for a colleague with an interest in the broad and varied general psychiatric assignment. The work includes both investigative and treatment work in close collaboration with other doctors and cross-professionally with the rest of the colleagues at the clinic.

The assignment involves independent clinical treatment work, as well as assessments and participation in neuropsychiatric, psychosis, and personality-related investigations. In your role, you are expected to contribute to supervision. At the clinic, we run a "gaffelmottagning" (fork clinic), a work and supervision model aimed at improving the educational climate for doctors in training (AT, BT, or ST doctors) while increasing patient safety. The model involves several trainee doctors working in parallel and receiving patients in their own rooms, while a specialist doctor acts as a supervisor without their own booked patients.

As a specialist doctor, you are expected to be able to work in a structured, flexible, and evidence-based manner, have good knowledge of psychiatry, the psychiatric mission related to patient groups, working methods, care levels, legislation, and interventions. We work across three municipalities with clinics in Kristinehamn and Filipstad. The primary work is centered in Kristinehamn, but some travel may occur, such as home visits or LPT assessments. You will be offered a good introduction and continuous dialogue and support in how the work is conducted and structured. Our work group is consistently stable and well-functioning with high psychiatric competence.

Your Knowledge and Competencies

We are looking for you who are a licensed doctor with specialist competence in psychiatry. We can offer different setups based on experience and wishes; there is an opportunity to discuss both a specialist doctor position and a senior consultant position.

To thrive in the position, you need personal maturity, a secure approach, and a good ability to collaborate, communicate, and cooperate with patients, relatives, colleagues, and care partners. You need to have very good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written, and be well acquainted with documentation in accordance with Swedish health care legislation.
