The Robotics & AI Group at Luleå University of Technology is looking for a motivated Research Engineer with a focus on hardware and software development for autonomous robots.

 

The Robotics & AI Group is involved in many field-oriented projects, which requires a versatile and proactive person who thrives in a fast-paced environment.

 

Project Description

You will be part of an outstanding team and collaborate with a diverse group of people working within robotics and artificial intelligence.

 

Responsibilities

  • Translate MATLAB code to Python/C++.
  • Create simulation environments for various use cases.
  • Develop and optimize software for robot systems using Python and C++.
  • Work with ROS (Robot Operating System) for robot control, navigation, and perception.
  • Integrate hardware and software components for real-time applications within ROS.
  • Provide support during experiments, both in the lab and in the field.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of engineers to improve system performance.
  • Perform soldering and maintenance of robots.
  • Assist in managing inventory of electrical spare parts and laboratory equipment.
  • Help maintain and upgrade laboratory equipment.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electronics, or another relevant field (Bachelor's or Master's).
  • Strong knowledge of Python and C++ for robot applications.
  • Experience with ROS (ROS1 or ROS2).
  • Knowledge of MATLAB for simulation and analysis.
  • Experience with robot perception systems, control, and kinematics.
  • Experience with Linux environments and version control (Git).
  • Practical experience in building robots and low-voltage electrical systems.
  • Willingness to travel and quickly adapt to new challenges.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Additional Qualifications (Desirable)

  • Valid EU Driver's License (Category B).
  • Drone Pilot Certificate (EU).
  • Knowledge of AI/ML applications in robotics.
  • Experience with hardware interfaces, sensors, and actuators.

Information

The position is full-time for 12 months, with the possibility of extension. Workplace: Luleå. Start date: ASAP or as agreed.
