Are you a driven and self-reliant IT technician with strong expertise in Windows Server and VMware? Do you want to take the next step in your career, deepen your knowledge of cloud technology, and become a key player in a large and socially critical hybrid environment? Our client is growing and is now looking for an engaged Operations Technician for their office in Sollentuna. Apply for the position today!

About the Role

In the role of Operations Technician, you will step into a broad IT organization. The team consists of a total of 12 people, divided into smaller, specialized subgroups (such as Network, Client, Server/Infrastructure, and Azure). You will be part of the tight-knit Server and Infrastructure team, which currently consists of 4 people. The organization is currently in an exciting phase where the Server/Infrastructure and Azure teams are moving closer together – giving you fantastic opportunities to learn new things and develop within cloud operations.

The environment is a Microsoft- and HPE-focused hybrid environment with a total of around 400–500 servers, evenly distributed between On-prem (VMware) and Azure. Since the business is also subject to the NIS2 directive, security and traceability are a natural part of everyday life.

The assignment is located in Sollentuna. The nearest train station is Häggvik. Since the role requires some on-site work, we would prefer that you live in the local area or are completely comfortable with a longer commute to the workplace.

This is a consulting assignment. You will be employed by Academic Work and work as a consultant for our client for approximately 6 months. The client's ambition is that the assignment will then transition into a permanent position directly with them, provided all parties are satisfied with the collaboration.

What We Offer

  • An exciting 6-month consulting assignment with very good chances of direct employment with the client afterwards.
  • A role in an experienced team where you have plenty of room to take initiative, grow, and develop.
  • Excellent opportunities to learn Azure in depth and work at the forefront with hybrid environments.

Responsibilities

  • Operations, maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting of server, storage, and Windows environments.
  • Work with VMware (vSphere, vCenter) as well as underlying HPE hardware.
  • Documentation, lifecycle management, and participation in internal change and improvement projects.
  • Automation (e.g., via PowerShell) and gradually more work in the Azure environment together with the cloud team.

We are looking for you who

  • Have at least 3 years of experience in server operations, making you independent and confident in your technical role.
  • Have experience working in a medium or large server environment previously (100+ virtual/physical servers).
  • Have good knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory (AD), and VMware.
  • Have fluent skills in Swedish and English, both spoken and written (an absolute requirement for the role).
  • Have a strong interest and willingness to learn Azure. You do not need to know Azure today, but you have a genuine drive to develop within cloud technology.

It is an advantage if you have experience with:

  • Azure (IaaS, Entra ID, networking) or PowerShell for automation.

To fit into the team and succeed in the role, we are looking for someone who is driven, forward-looking, and self-reliant. You are someone who likes to take initiative, show your face, and is hungry to learn new technologies. Since the team today consists of many senior employees with long experience, your drive, energy, and willingness to develop will be a perfect complement to the group. At the same time, you are a team player who appreciates a flat-hierarchy collaboration.
