Specialist Physician in Oncology – Blood and Tumor Diseases Department
We are Akademiska sjukhuset – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. As a county hospital and provider of highly specialized care, we offer healthcare to two million people in Central Sweden. Something is always happening here – a new life is born, a grandmother undergoes surgery, a colleague is hailed as a hero. Here, you will experience both tough trials and fantastic events, within a strong community of colleagues. We welcome your application!
Our Operations
The Blood and Tumor Diseases Department is housed in the new healthcare building, entrance 100/101 on Dag Hammarskjölds väg. The department features modern facilities with single rooms, new information and communication technology systems, as well as separated professional and public flows. The new building is equipped with the latest medical technology, including Sweden's first MR-linac, which combines a linear accelerator with imaging diagnostics. The new construction provides us with new opportunities to co-locate the Blood and Tumor Diseases Department together with the Imaging and Functional Medical Center, creating new collaboration opportunities with significant potential patient benefit.
Your Role
As a specialist physician within the Blood and Tumor Diseases Department, you will work within the Oncology Section. Your duties will consist of work in both outpatient and inpatient care. The section consists of two inpatient wards, an investigation ward, a treatment ward, and an oncology clinic. The section's physicians also staff the department's radiation therapy unit. Research activity is high, and there is also a dedicated clinical research and development unit within the operations.
With proximity to the university, opportunities open up for you to participate in research and development within your field. Even though the hospital is large, the distance between our different specialist areas is never far. Here, you also have the opportunity to develop through stimulating meetings with colleagues and patients, as well as through supervising medical students. Together, we create a challenging and developing workplace where freedom under responsibility is a given.
Your Qualifications
You are a specialist in oncology. Interest and experience in the treatment of breast cancer is meritorious. You are interested in research and will be part of a consultant chain within Region Uppsala (Central Sweden), where we currently have close cooperation with Falun, Gävle, and Eskilstuna.
Your Competencies
You take initiative, start activities, and make decisions. You have good collaboration skills and are articulate in both speech and writing. You work according to a clear process, organize and plan your work well, complete what is started, and meet deadlines. You handle stress constructively and maintain a good mood under pressure and setbacks. You easily empathize with others' situations, listen, understand, and show consideration.
What We Offer
The position is a permanent full-time employment with a start date as agreed. We apply individual salary setting.
Here, you receive benefits that make a difference. Read about the benefits here: Region Uppsala Benefits (https://regionuppsala.se/formaner/).
