Specialist Physician/Consultant in Psychiatry – Inpatient Care

Our Operations

At Akademiska sjukhuset, the Psychiatry Business Area is organized into four sections, of which the Section for Affective Disorders is one. The section includes inpatient care, several outpatient clinics, and a pre-hospital acute psychiatric mobile unit, which together are responsible for specialized psychiatric care for adults in Uppsala County. The section also houses a gender identity clinic, an eating disorders unit for adults, a DBT unit, and an affective treatment unit. Various professions work in teams around the patients on the section. We work process-oriented to continue driving modern psychiatric care with high quality. There are great opportunities for you as a physician in inpatient care to contribute to further developing care processes and ensuring safe transitions between different forms of care.

As a specialist physician/consultant in our inpatient care, you will primarily work with patients such as those with bipolar disorder, severe depression, and severe anxiety and personality syndromes. You will have the assistance of the ward's other staff, including resident physicians. Professionally, you will develop through stimulating interactions with both patients and their relatives, as well as with colleagues from your own and other sections and business areas, universities, and students. We have good cooperation between inpatient and outpatient care with weekly meetings where we discuss planning for inpatients.

The collaborative climate in the medical group is positive, where discussions regarding individual patient cases and medical issues are welcome. We are now delighted to welcome another colleague to the group.

Your Role

Your working days will consist of standard specialist physician work on the affective inpatient ward. Supervision and teaching are included in the role, and we offer everyone a personal development plan. On-call and standby duties are included, with the opportunity for post-call training.

Your Qualifications

You must be a licensed physician with specialist competence in psychiatry. Since much of the work is done in collaboration with others, we place great emphasis on good teamwork skills. Furthermore, we would like you to be structured and stable as a person, while also being solution-focused.
We place great importance on personal suitability. Merits for the position include good knowledge of the patient group, interest in teaching and development, and experience of working within inpatient care.

We Offer

The position is a permanent employment, although a probationary period may apply. The start date is negotiable. The employment degree is 100%, but there are good opportunities for individual solutions. On-call and standby duties are included in the position.

The position may be filled before the application period has ended.
