Do you want to lead a new unit and be responsible for its long-term development?

Do you have experience in strategic and long-term change work? Then you are the one we are looking for!

A key role in a growing region

Region Uppsala’s Property and Service department plays a central role in the region's growth. We develop, build, and manage hospitals, health centers, vehicle depots, and much more. We are in an expansive, developmental, and exciting phase. The ongoing project portfolio includes, among other things, a tram depot for Uppsala's new tramway, the construction of production kitchens, and technically sealed new, conversion, and extension buildings for the advanced needs of Uppsala University Hospital. Future projects include new health centers in several locations in the county, additional vehicle depots, extensive development of Uppsala University Hospital, and more. The client for the projects is usually the Property Department, which works in parallel with the Technical, Operations, and Service Department. Our customers are the other administrations within Region Uppsala.

We are now looking for a Project Area Manager who wants to lead the unit and develop our project department

You will lead a new unit and be responsible for its long-term development. Experience in strategic and long-term change work is therefore an important part of the competence we are seeking.

We offer challenging and socially important tasks, collaboration with knowledgeable colleagues, and wonderful coworkers who go to work to do something that is truly important. Welcome to apply if you also want to contribute to this important work.

Your responsibilities

On behalf of and in collaboration with other units and departments within Property and Service, and not least with our customers, the project department leads and executes property investment projects in all stages.

The Project Area Manager has budget, employee, and operational responsibility within the unit.

Furthermore, you are responsible for staffing the projects in the unit you lead with resources adapted to the project's needs regarding scope and complexity.

You collaborate with other managers within the department to ensure that working methods, processes, and routines in the projects are adapted and developed to meet the requirements and needs of the external environment, the customer, and the organization itself.

This means that collaboration is important, as well as creating engagement among your employees and driving the business forward through participation.

You are a member of the department management, report to the department manager, and may serve as deputy department manager when needed.

Qualifications and personal qualities

You have a university degree in a relevant field and many years of experience from construction and property operations or infrastructure.

We are looking for you who have experience with large projects where you have had a leading role in the implementation. You should have experience in driving development and leading work in complex contexts, as the role is strategic and central to Region Uppsala's property investments and long-term development.

Furthermore, the role requires experience in contract law and technology.

You are computer literate and have good knowledge of project models, property, and project systems.

Being a Project Area Manager involves many contacts and collaborations. Therefore, you need to be unpretentious, receptive, and have a good ability to build good relationships with customers and employees. You should be structured and able to express yourself well in speech and writing.

We assume that you have a great commitment to the task, a desire to inspire and include employees and colleagues, and the ability to see the big picture.

To succeed in this role, you must have personal maturity and be stable and secure.

It is meritorious if you have had managerial responsibility, but it is not a requirement. However, experience in leadership is a requirement, which can come from roles without direct employee responsibility.

Taking initiative and wanting to achieve results is something you enjoy.

We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
