Our Operations

Molecular Diagnostics and Clinical Genetics is a section within Akademiska Laboratory. We are an expanding operation located at the Rudbeck Laboratory. The section, with approximately 90 employees, performs diagnostics for congenital and acquired genetic abnormalities and provides genetic counseling. Our mission includes, in addition to healthcare, research, development, and education. The operation is accredited according to ISO15189. We are now offering two positions as specialists in clinical genetics, with experience in prenatal diagnostics, general genetics, and syndrome investigations, for both children and adults. Overall, your primary work area will be at the laboratory and patient clinic, with a focus on general and cancer genetics depending on your specialization. You will work in a team of clinical geneticists, hospital geneticists, and genetic counselors. Other tasks may become relevant based on the applicant's specific areas of competence.

Your Role

Conducting diagnostics and development within clinical genetics, with a focus on medical knowledge areas within genetics such as various hereditary cancers, syndromes, neurology, and general genetics. The tasks include development work, participation in clinical rounds, and supervision of residents (ST-doctors) and other employees. Service at a university hospital presupposes participation in ongoing research projects and teaching at various levels, including various basic university programs.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for a licensed physician with specialist competence in clinical genetics, who is preferably a double specialist or conducts independent research in the field. You have experience with patient clinics, as well as genetic laboratory investigations, and are academically meritorious. For a specialist physician position at Akademiska Hospital, a competency assessment is conducted before appointment.

The work places high demands on interaction with other employees in clinical genetics, as well as with employees in other disciplines within the framework of multidisciplinary work. Good teamwork skills and sensitivity are considered valuable personal traits for the job. Personal traits may therefore be prioritized over other merits.
