With 24/7 on-call service, clinics across the country, and unique knowledge of animal health, we contribute to healthier animals and a safer life. As district veterinarians, we work on behalf of private individuals, companies, and authorities. We offer socially essential services for emergency animal healthcare, disease control, and preventive measures for good animal health. Always with our feet on the ground and our hearts in the right place. Distriktsveterinärerna is part of the Swedish Board of Agriculture (Jordbruksverket).
Welcome to Distriktsveterinärerna in Östhammar!
At our clinics in Östhammar and Tierp, 12 veterinarians, 2 animal nurses, and 7 animal care assistants work. To our cheerful and tight-knit team, we are now looking for 2 additional positions for acting veterinarians (tf-veterinär) or licensed veterinarians.
Job Responsibilities
Our goal is to create a workplace where everyone enjoys working, thereby giving them the right conditions to do a good job. If you work with us, you will never be bored; we offer very stimulating and varied work both at the clinic and in the field.
- Small Animals: At our small animal clinics, we receive patients for dental care and surgery together with our experienced anesthesia nurses. We perform medical investigations and have access to X-ray and ultrasound.
- Horses: We meet our horse patients in the field or at our clinic in Östhammar. We have mobile X-ray and ultrasound equipment. We also perform dental treatments.
- Livestock: For livestock, we offer herd visits and VILA (Care, Inspection, Medication Control, and Slaughter).
- Emergency: Of course, we also receive all animal species for emergency visits both during the day and during on-call hours.
You have strong support from experienced colleagues who are keen to take care of new colleagues. As a veterinarian with us, on-call duty is a natural part of the job. We have 24/7 on-call service throughout the year, which means night and weekend work is part of the position. We are constantly working to develop and improve on-call services with a focus on recovery; we care about our work environment! Sometimes you work alone, but you are never alone. Driving is also a natural part of the job, and you need to feel comfortable with it. Taking responsibility and making independent decisions are part of everyday life.
We work continuously with competence development, and we see your professional growth as our best investment.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who have a Swedish veterinary license or acting veterinarian permission (tf-behörighet). We see that you are engaged, flexible, comfortable working alone, value good service and customer relations, and work for the best of the team towards common goals.
Our operations consist of small animal practice as well as work with horses and farm animals. For this position, we see that you are interested in working with all animal species but preferably have a slight extra interest in small animals or livestock.
We place great emphasis on good teamwork skills and personal suitability, where self-reliance, loyalty, service orientation, and good judgment are seen as important abilities. You do not need to have long work experience in the veterinary profession, but you need a willingness to learn and an interest in learning to become a district veterinarian who works with all animal species.
Requirements:
- Category B driver's license
- Eligibility to work as a veterinarian (license or acting permission)
- Swedish language skills in both writing and speech
If you want to join a well-functioning team with high competence, apply today! Selection and interviews take place continuously during the application period.
