Göteborg City Mission is a non-profit, values-driven organization working to support people living in vulnerable situations. Together, we aim to create a Gothenburg where everyone is included. A city where we meet the person, not the problem.
ABOUT US
We are currently looking for a meal assistant/chef for Öjersjöhemmet, located in Partille Municipality. The residence is beautifully situated in a quiet area near Öjersjö center.
The City Mission's drug-free residence in Öjersjö offers 21 places distributed across 14 rooms and 7 apartments. Our target group consists of adults aged 21 and over with harmful substance use/addiction who lack housing and/or need psychosocial support in some form. Our operations are staffed with housing assistants, coordinators, unit managers, and a housekeeper/chef. The facility operates 24/7, with two staff members on sleeping duty during the night. The residence offers a calm and harmonious environment focused on supporting individuals toward stable drug-free living, a more sustainable life situation, and increased independence and quality of life, based on individual needs.
We work using Motivational Interviewing (MI) as a method and have a relapse-preventive approach. We offer our residents opportunities for various activities such as wellness programs, theme groups, AA/NA meetings, and link meetings for those working on their sobriety. Our garden provides space for ball sports and barbecue evenings. Weekend activities are planned together with our residents and can include bowling, fishing, shopping trips, and more. The residence's proximity to beautiful nature invites relaxing walks and swimming.
ABOUT THE ROLE
In your role as a meal assistant/chef, you will prepare and serve meals to the residents. You are also responsible for planning the week's meals, purchasing groceries, and preparing for times when other staff members are responsible for meal services. When deliveries arrive, you will handle carrying and organizing the reception of food supplies.
Cooking will involve participation from the residents, as contributing in the kitchen is part of the pedagogical work for our residents. The role also includes creating a good environment for our residents with elements that enhance well-being. You will collaborate in a team with other housing assistants, and we all help each other with cleaning/maintenance, for example, when preparing rooms for new residents or during move-outs. We also help each other with other tasks in the house. All in the aim of creating a good living environment for the residents.
WHO ARE YOU?
To fit into our team and role as a meal assistant/chef at our residence, it is important that you are calm and confident in yourself. You are independent and responsible, engaged, creative, flexible, non-hierarchical, and development-oriented. You are fundamentally positive, good at collaborating, and enjoy social contact. You have good initiative and take action on things that need to be done. You take great responsibility for your tasks. Furthermore, you are stress-resistant and can plan and prioritize your tasks based on emerging needs.
You are a trained chef/meal assistant and/or have good work experience from kitchens with good references. You must be able to handle physically demanding tasks. You have good knowledge of food allergies, hot kitchen operations, and a sense for good taste and the visual presentation of served food is a requirement. You must have documented professional experience as a chef or meal assistant and experience in teamwork. We place great emphasis on personal qualities.
A driver's license and basic computer skills are required.
