Bengtsfors Municipality – A Place to Thrive and Grow!

In the heart of Dalsland, surrounded by lakes and beautiful nature, lies Bengtsfors Municipality. Here, quality of life is combined with development opportunities in a secure and welcoming environment. Bengtsfors is perhaps best known for its scenic surroundings and its 399 lakes, which cover approximately 17 percent of the area, as well as the Dalsland Canal that runs through several towns in the municipality. The municipality has five urban areas, with Bengtsfors being the central town. The other towns are Dals Långed, Billingsfors, Bäckefors, and Skåpafors.

Bengtsfors Municipality is the largest employer in the area, and together we work to create a sustainable and attractive municipality for our employees, residents, and businesses. We value joy in work and strive to create an attractive working environment with high well-being and engagement – all set in one of Sweden's most beautiful natural locations.

Welcome to Bengtsfors Municipality!

About Us

The goal of the Meal Unit is to provide all diners with a good, varied, and nutritious meal. We strive to cook meals from scratch and, as much as possible, use Swedish, locally produced, and fair-trade ingredients. The Meal Unit is responsible for preparing and serving food to the municipality's preschools, schools, and elderly care facilities. The operation has approximately 30 employees and consists of 13 kitchens in urban and rural areas, of which 7 are production kitchens.

The Meal Unit collaborates closely with other Dalsland municipalities and Säffle Municipality in procurement work and regarding common goal documents.

We work actively with climate goals for 2030, both within the Meal Unit and the municipality. We continuously monitor goals regarding, among other things, sustainable meals and food waste. For us, continuous development work and participation are important to achieve good results.

Job Responsibilities

Preparation of all meals and side dishes, including special diets and consistency-adapted food, salad preparation, self-control work, ordering, serving, dishwashing, and cleaning, as well as other tasks commonly found in a large-scale kitchen.

The position involves:

  • Replacing permanent staff during short-term absences
  • Being on-call with short notice
  • Working at several different preschools, schools, and elderly care facilities within the municipality, either with the rest of the work group or alone
  • Working hours may be scheduled between 06:30 - 16:30, and weekend work may occur

What We Offer You

  • A meaningful assignment where you contribute to good and nutritious meals for patients and students
  • A varied job where no day is the same
  • Valuable work experience in kitchen and meal service
  • Knowledgeable and supportive colleagues

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a restaurant and large-scale household education, other education and/or experience that the employer considers equivalent. It is an advantage if you have education in allergies and special diets. You have knowledge and interest in good and nutritious meals where the guest and the meal environment are central. A driver's license is required for the position.

What We Are Looking For in You

As a person, you are calm, observant, and self-reliant. You take responsibility for your assignment and are good at organizing and planning your work. Furthermore, you have good communication skills, you enjoy working in a team, and contribute to good cooperation with colleagues and other professions you meet in your work. We place great emphasis on good treatment. For us, this means that you show respect for guests and colleagues and show engagement in your work.

The position requires that you are flexible and that you strive to find solutions to the challenges that may arise in our kitchens.

The role requires computer literacy, basic mathematical skills, and good Swedish in speech and writing. We work with the food data program Matilda; experience with this is therefore an advantage. Basic computer knowledge in Office programs is a prerequisite for the position.

Great importance will be attached to personal suitability. Employment interviews will be held continuously during the application period.
