The Reception Unit in Hudiksvall is responsible for receiving, mapping, and supporting newly arrived students in the municipality's schools. The unit also includes the Mother Tongue Unit, which works with mother tongue instruction and study guidance in the mother tongue for students in primary and secondary school.

Mother tongue instruction aims to strengthen students' language, identity, and multilingual development. The teaching usually takes place after school hours and follows the current curriculum for mother tongue.

Study guidance in the mother tongue is used as support for students' learning in the school's various subjects and helps students develop both subject knowledge and the Swedish language in parallel. Study guidance takes place during school hours and is tailored to the student's needs and the school's decisions.

At the Reception Unit, mother tongue teachers, study guides, and educators work together to create a safe, inclusive, and language-developing learning environment for students with different linguistic and cultural backgrounds.

Job Responsibilities

As a mother tongue teacher, you will:

• teach students in their mother tongue according to current guidelines
• plan, implement, and follow up on teaching based on students' needs
• work on language and knowledge development with students of different ages
• provide study guidance in the mother tongue during school hours to support students' learning in various subjects
• support students' understanding of subject content and key concepts in both the mother tongue and Swedish
• collaborate with teachers on planning and adaptations for students' knowledge development
• collaborate with mentors, student health services, and guardians
• contribute to students' multilingual development, sense of security, and participation in school
• participate in mapping and pedagogical discussions regarding students' learning

Your Profile

We are looking for someone who:

• has good knowledge of the mother tongue and Swedish
• has pedagogical education or teaching experience
• has experience working with children and young people in a multilingual environment
• is flexible, responsible, and has good collaboration skills
• has an inclusive and professional approach
• is aware of regulations

Experience with mother tongue instruction or study guidance in the mother tongue is an advantage.
