About the workplace
The catering operations are part of the Service Administration in Ale Municipality. The Service Administration is tasked with providing high-quality service to the core operations of Ale Municipality in a professional and resource-efficient manner.
Through our work, we ensure that the municipality's special housing facilities, schools, and preschools receive good, well-prepared, safe, nutritious, and varied meals. In Ale, we strive to cook from scratch, use Swedish raw materials, and make climate-smart choices. The operation consists of approximately 40 kitchens and around 90 employees.
We are now looking for an engaged and service-oriented chef for the catering unit. The position is located at Da Vinci School, a secondary school in Nödinge, where food is also produced for two nursing homes in Ale Municipality. A total of approximately 700 meals are produced per day. Here you will work with colleagues and head chefs who have great commitment and a strong sense of teamwork.
Job Responsibilities
As a chef, your tasks include preparing and serving delicious and nutritious meals. You are responsible for food safety and ensuring that labeling and contents of special diets are correct.
In our kitchen, you cook much of the food from scratch, have seasonally adapted menus, and work actively to reduce food waste. It should be fun to go to work, and we are looking for someone who can bring joy and has the desire to do a good job!
Qualifications
- Education from a 3-year restaurant and food education with a focus on chef, or equivalent as assessed by the employer.
- Work experience of at least three years as a chef in a restaurant or large kitchen.
- Good theoretical and practical knowledge of cooking within special diets.
- Knowledge of self-control, food hygiene, and its documentation.
- Good computer skills.
We are looking for someone who adapts easily to changed conditions and new information. You have the ability to work together with others to perform tasks and achieve goals. The role also requires that you are mindful of understanding the expectations of the client and contribute to a good work environment.
You are positive, have a high sense of service, and enjoy delivering with quality. You must be able to master the Swedish language in speech and writing, as reading and following recipes, routines, and instructions, as well as communicating with colleagues, customers, and diners, is part of the assignment.

- Advantageous with work experience from large kitchens or restaurants.
- Advantageous with experience in meals for the elderly and special diets.
- Knowledge of environment and technology in large households and self-control is desirable.
- Knowledge of the food data system Matilda is advantageous.
- Working hours are daytime, Monday to Friday.
- Category B driver's license is desirable.
