Our client operates vital infrastructure for rail transport in Sweden and is now seeking an engaged automation engineer to contribute to a socially important project focused on modernizing Sweden's railway network.

About the Role

As an Automation Engineer, you will primarily support a project in collaboration with the Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket), focusing on railway station control. You will work closely with project managers and technical specialists throughout the entire project flow, from design and configuration to testing and commissioning. The work is mainly carried out in Sicam and Simatic systems.

Responsibilities

The role involves working with the configuration, programming, testing, and commissioning of control systems for station control within the railway sector, with a focus on RTU, Network, and HMI/SCADA.

  • Design and configuration of control systems for station control
  • Programming of control systems, primarily in Sicam and Simatic systems
  • Testing of systems (e.g., FAT/SAT) prior to commissioning
  • Commissioning of systems on-site according to the project schedule
  • Preparation of documentation and materials for the project
  • Preparations for testing and on-site activities
  • Work with RTU, Network, and HMI/SCADA systems

We are looking for someone who

  • Is technically interested, curious, and eager to learn.
  • Has a relevant university, college, or vocational higher education degree, or other training considered equivalent.
  • Has previous experience with programming in PLC, RTU (IEC 61131-3), and/or SCADA.
  • Has experience with communication protocols such as IEC 60870-5-101/104 and Modbus.
  • Has very good skills in Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
  • Has a valid driver's license (Category B), as the role involves travel within Sweden related to design and commissioning.

It is an advantage if you have

  • Experience with testing or commissioning.
  • Knowledge in C++ and/or Python.
  • Experience with Swedish Transport Administration facilities and familiarity with working according to their requirements.
  • Experience in electrical design.
