Readiness Coordinator at Köping Municipality

In a changing world, society is facing increasingly higher demands for its ability to prevent, manage, and recover from unwanted events and challenges. The deteriorating security situation and previous experiences of crises have made it clear that municipalities' readiness needs to be significantly strengthened. Municipalities must take measures to strengthen the functionality of core operations in peacetime so that they can function even during heightened readiness and war. Köping Municipality is working together to build a resilient Köping where daily life continues, even when the unexpected happens.

Do you want to make a difference by increasing our ability to handle societal disruptions? Do you have a strong interest and engagement in societal and readiness issues? Then we can offer you a varied and exciting job where every day brings new challenges and opportunities.

As a Readiness Coordinator, you will support, drive, and coordinate crisis readiness work together with the municipality's operations and companies. We are looking for a person with good analytical skills who values collaboration, can take initiative, and enjoys taking responsibility and driving work processes independently. Are you the one we are looking for?

The Security Department currently consists of a Security Manager who is also the Security Protection Manager, two Readiness Coordinators, two Security Coordinators with a main focus on crime prevention and safety-enhancing work, and two IT Information Security Coordinators/DSOs.

1 position(s).

Job Responsibilities

In the role of Readiness Coordinator, you will map, plan, and follow up on readiness and continuity work, both at the administration and group-wide levels. You contribute to decision-making by producing materials such as risk and vulnerability analyses. An important part of the assignment is to develop continuity management work in the municipality's administrations and companies.

Examples of tasks:

  • Conduct workshops within the area of continuity planning
  • Conduct training and exercises within the readiness area
  • Develop processes, method support, and governing documents within the readiness area
  • Develop safety points within the municipality

The purpose is clear: to prevent, prepare, and create conditions for effective handling of unwanted events and to increase resilience in our operations and for the municipality's citizens.

In the assignment, you work closely together with other colleagues in the department, and together you form a team that ensures the progress of the work and support for the administrative leadership and operations in matters concerning security and readiness. To succeed in the role, you need to be communicative and have an easy time building trust with others. Since you will be working against deadlines, it is required that you are structured and accustomed to prioritizing and planning your work independently.

A large part of your work will involve collaborating internally with our operations as well as with external actors.

Qualifications

We are looking for you with an academic education relevant to the position or other education or experience that we assess as equivalent. You have documented work experience in crisis readiness or civil defense, such as conducting risk and vulnerability analyses, developing continuity plans, or crisis management.

You have previous experience in planning and leading workshops, training, and exercises in the field. Experience with common staff function tasks such as conducting analyses and follow-ups, producing governing documents and decision support materials, and conducting systematic environmental scanning. We also see that you have experience working based on the Security Protection Act regarding the production of security protection analyses and security protection plans.

Meritorious

  • Experience working in a politically governed organization.
  • Previous experience in investigative work or project management, preferably within municipal or other public operations, is also advantageous.
  • Examination from the Program for International Crisis and Conflict Management (180 ECTS) or other education that we assess as equivalent.
  • Experience working based on signals protection and the role of Signals Protection Manager.
  • Previous position as Security Protection Manager or deputy.
  • Experience being part of the readiness group for civil servants on call at the group level.
  • Good ability to express yourself orally and in writing in Swedish.
  • Experience or education based on the Public Procurement Act.

Personal Attributes

We will place great emphasis on personal attributes. Holistic view, lack of pretension, close collaboration, and solution-oriented mindset are highly valued. You have the ability to transform overarching perspectives into practical action and feel comfortable in the role of leading and creating understanding in others, for example when leading project groups. A well-developed ability to see the big picture, build relationships, and collaborate is a prerequisite for succeeding in the role.

Conditions

  • You must be a Swedish citizen. A security clearance according to the Security Protection Act (2018:585) will be conducted.
  • An employment with us may be subject to war-time placement, which you will be informed about if it becomes relevant.
  • You are part of the municipality's crisis organization, and readiness may be included in the position.
  • Since travel is part of the work, a B driver's license for passenger cars is required.
  • Permanent employment – probationary employment may be applied.

Employment Type: Permanent.
Duration: Permanent.

Location

The position of Readiness Coordinator is located within the Municipal Executive Office in the Security Department, and the office is in fully renovated premises at the City Hall in Köping, but we are positive towards hybrid work.

Our Benefits

  • Summer and winter working hours: we work less in the summer and have closed days.
  • A generous flex-time system.
  • Wellness allowance.
  • Opportunity for vacation exchange.
  • Positive and welcoming colleagues.

Our Municipality

Köping is located in Western Mälardalen between Örebro, Västerås, and Eskilstuna. With our 26,000 inhabitants, we are a moderately sized municipality where close collaborations are possible. Working in the municipality is significant and makes a direct difference in the daily lives of Köping residents.

Köping Municipality has made its medieval choice for recruitment and declines all offers of advertising and recruitment assistance in connection with this advertisement.
