The staffing unit of Strängnäs Municipality is looking for substitutes for the summer for our special housing facilities (elderly care homes), our home care service, and the night patrol. Working as a substitute suits you if you are sensitive, driven, and enjoy meeting people. You are calm, and your welcoming and positive attitude makes it easy for you to build good relationships with users, relatives, and colleagues. You are flexible and appreciate a dynamic and varied job where no working day is the same.
Our users, whether they live in special housing or in their own homes, need help in their daily lives. This can include personal care and hygiene, cooking, cleaning, laundry, shopping, or going out – all based on the users' wishes.
If you work during the summer period, you will be scheduled for a longer period at one and the same workplace.

RESPONSIBILITIES
If you work at one of our nice special housing facilities, you will help our users on-site with the support they need on a daily basis. A large part of the work is performed individually together with the user, but you have colleagues on-site, and together you divide up what needs to be done during the shift.
In home care, you work with our users in their own homes and support them with the tasks they have been approved for. During your shift, you walk, cycle, or drive between the users' homes. You usually make the visits to the homes yourself, but you are part of a work team.
Documentation is part of the job, and your working hours vary and can be day, evening, and weekend. We are also looking for night staff for some of our units.
To be considered for employment, you must be able to get to and from work during evenings and weekends without always relying on local public transport. This is especially important if you are applying for a job at one of our facilities outside central Strängnäs, for example, Åkers styckebruk and Mariefred.
Working as an hourly substitute with us gives you unique experiences from different workplaces, and you get the opportunity to build valuable contacts for the future. It is thanks to our substitutes that our operations can remain open year-round, weekdays as well as weekends, day and night.
The job involves performing delegated tasks, and after a certain period of employment, it is also a requirement to take on delegation so that we can continue to book you for shifts.
In addition to assistant nurses and care aides, you can also work as a helper with us. A helper makes daily life a little easier and nicer for the elderly through service and simple care interventions that follow the implementation plan. Among other things, you support regular staff, document interventions, and ensure that aids such as rollators and wheelchairs are kept clean. An important part of the role is also to create security and well-being through moments of conversation, reading the newspaper together, playing games, taking a walk, or helping with crosswords.
In spring 2026, a new law has come into force meaning that work in the home for elderly persons or adults with disabilities will be subject to register control. For this position, this means that final candidates, to be considered for employment in Strängnäs Municipality, must present extracts from both the criminal record register and the suspicion register before employment can be offered.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for you who have/are:
- 18 years of age (this is a requirement to work in care as a substitute with us).
- Good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish.
- Accustomed to using IT as a support in everyday life, as some documentation and scheduling is done in our systems.
- To be able to work in home care, it is also important that you can cycle.
It is an advantage if you have:
- Education in nursing, especially advantageous if you are an assistant nurse.
- Previous experience of working in care.
- A class B driver's license and driving experience are advantageous if you want to work in home care.
- Availability to work the entire vacation period, June–August.
If you work in home care, you need to be prepared for the fact that pets may be present in our users' homes.

We are now looking for staff who can work the entire or part of the summer period, which extends from June to August. There may be an opportunity to start working on an hourly basis already during the spring and possibly also an opportunity for extension after the summer.
