We are currently collecting spontaneous applications from hourly-paid chefs who wish to become part of our dedicated team. At the Meal Service in Halmstad Municipality, we work to prepare sustainable, nutritious, and well-cooked meals for the municipality's residents – from our youngest preschool children to the elderly in our care and housing facilities.

Job Responsibilities

As an hourly-paid chef with us, you are an important part of the daily kitchen operations. You ensure that meals maintain high quality, are prepared according to our routines, and are served with care and professionalism. The work may involve everything from preparation, cooking, and serving to dishwashing, cleaning, and other practical kitchen tasks. You will work based on our common goals: to create sustainable and nutritious meals, deliver good service, and contribute to safe, pleasant, and well-functioning meal environments in our operations. The role requires that you can work both independently and as part of a team, that you take initiative when needed, and that you contribute to good collaboration both inside and outside the kitchen.

Qualifications

You are self-motivated, flexible, and service-oriented, with the ability to take initiative and find solutions in everyday situations. You build good relationships quickly and work structured even when the pace is fast. You thrive in both collaborative settings and when working independently as needed. We particularly value that you are driven and flexible, have good teamwork skills and a sense of service, as well as being stress-resistant and good at problem-solving. It is also a positive attribute if you are adaptable and have good structure in your work.

Formal Requirements

  • Restaurant education at the upper secondary level or education/experience assessed as equivalent.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Good knowledge of Swedish in both speech and writing.
  • Ability to present a valid extract from the criminal record register for "Work in school/preschool".
  • Be flexible and able to work with short notice.
  • Be able to work at least 2–3 days per week.
  • Valid driver's license.

Merits

  • Experience working in a restaurant or institutional kitchen as a chef.
  • Knowledge of special diets and/or experience working with special diets.
  • Own car to commute to work.
