Job Description

The role of BI Developer (Data Engineer) in projects and operations may include the following tasks:

• In the data warehouse, design and develop procedures, database schemas, and logic written in SQL for Microsoft SQL Server.
• Responsible for acceptance testing with end-users.
• In a DevOps team, manage and further develop deliveries to end-users, including for our Machine Learning algorithms, where both historical data and real-time data are included.
• Create or update system documentation.
• Collaborate within the team as well as with other parts of the organization.
• Perform routine operations such as handling incidents, which may include debugging and bug fixing, and provide assistance in the IT operations of our applications.
• Have the ability to act as a Scrum Master for the agile team: coordinate daily work and manage the backlog in consultation with the Product Owner.

Requirements

1. Education / Experience University/college education of at least 120 credits/180 ECTS in IT, or at least 15 years of relevant working experience assessed as equivalent.

2. SQL Development At least 5 years of experience (within the last 10 years) working with SQL development.

3. SQL Server Performance Optimization At least 10 years of experience in performance optimization in SQL Server, including analysis, debugging, and improvement of complex database systems.

4. Advanced SQL Programming At least 10 years of experience in SQL programming, including writing, reviewing, and optimizing advanced SQL code.

5. Data Engineer Role At least 10 years of experience as a Data Engineer in medium-sized organizations (200+ employees).

6. Agile System Development At least 5 years of experience working in an agile IT organization with agile system development.

7. Large Datasets and Data Sources At least 10 years of documented experience (within the last 15 years) working with:

• Large datasets and complex data models.
• Multiple data sources, both structured and unstructured.

8. Databases and Database Architecture At least 10 years of documented experience (within the last 15 years) in:

• Data modeling.
• Database design.
• Performance optimization and tuning of relational databases and modern data storage solutions.

9. ETL Processes At least 10 years of documented experience (within the last 15 years) in:

• ETL processes (Extract, Transform, Load).
• Development, automation, and optimization of data flows.

10. Data Pipelines and Orchestration Practical experience with data pipelines and orchestration tools, such as:

• Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
• Azure Data Factory.
• Or equivalent tools.

11. Testing, Debugging, and Data Validation At least 10 years of documented experience in testing, debugging, and validating datasets.

Nice to Have

1. Power Systems / Energy Operations Experience of at least one assignment within operations working with power systems during the last 8 years.

2. BI Tools Experience of at least one assignment within Power BI or another BI tool during the last 8 years.
