About Polhemsskolan

Polhemsskolan is Gävle's largest upper secondary school with approximately 1,100 students. The school offers 9 national programs, including one preparatory program and eight vocational programs. Polhemsskolan has well-developed work teams and extensive quality work aimed at increasing student goal achievement. The Plumbing and Property program is a vocational program for young people training to work in the plumbing, industrial piping, and refrigeration and heat pump technology sectors.

Job Responsibilities

Do you want to make a difference for young people while contributing your professional expertise? Polhemsskolan is now looking for a vocational teacher for the Plumbing and Property program who wants to inspire future professionals through knowledge, engagement, and close collaboration with the industry.

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Teaching, having class responsibility, and being responsible for planning, conducting, and evaluating lessons, primarily in plumbing courses but also in basic courses common to the entire program. The work is performed according to decided goals and guidelines.
• Mentoring and, together with your colleagues, designing a good, enjoyable, and varied school day with the students' best interests in focus.
• Collaborating with the industry regarding workplace learning (APL) placements and program councils. You are also responsible for supervising students during their workplace learning at external workplaces.

You challenge and support students so that they achieve good academic results. The work is performed in collaboration with student health services, guardians, and other actors outside the school.

Qualifications and Merits

We are looking for someone who:

• Has education and professional certification in plumbing (VVS).
• Has work experience from the plumbing industry.
• Has experience and has been professionally active within plumbing.
• Can express yourself well in Swedish, both orally and in writing.

Merits for the position include:

• Knowledge of and experience with digital tools.
• Teacher education and certification to teach plumbing subjects.
• Familiarity with the upper secondary school curriculum.
• Education and professional certification in industrial piping.
• Work experience in industrial piping. Knowledge of industrial piping technology and different welding techniques such as MMA, TIG, and gas welding.

Interviews will be conducted on an ongoing basis.

As a final candidate in the recruitment process, it is a requirement that you present an extract from the criminal record for work in school or preschool. You order the criminal record extract from the police website.
