About Plejd

Plejd is an innovative Swedish tech company specializing in smart lighting and home automation. We are passionate about making electricians' daily lives easier by developing products and services that utilize new technology effectively. Through our leading position in lighting automation, we have established ourselves as a key player in the Swedish market.

We are an integrated full-stack company with internal expertise, boasting a broad group of specialists in areas such as production, automation, electronics, mechanics, embedded systems, app development, and cloud/backend technologies. All under one roof.

About the Role

In this role, you will work to ensure that our products meet both manufacturing requirements (DFM) and product standard requirements. You will work diligently to understand the customer's perspective and develop smart solutions that make our customers' lives easier.

You will gain insight into the entire product development process and work with various manufacturing methods and materials – from injection molding and extrusion to casting and laser cutting – to create products that are both functional and aesthetically pleasing.

With your sharp eye for detail and design, you ensure that design and production go hand in hand. You also play a central role in the dialogue with suppliers, driving issues related to prototypes, manufacturing processes, and initial price negotiations to ensure high quality and cost-efficiency.

About You

We are looking for you with an education in mechanical design. You have an interest in working practically and close to the product throughout the entire development process.

We would like you to have:
  • Experience with CAD, preferably SolidWorks
  • Experience in designing and prototyping products
  • Knowledge of modeling and simulation is a plus
  • Interest in optimizing both product performance and manufacturability
  • Creativity and inventiveness
  • Good communication skills in both Swedish and English

You thrive in a flat organization and want to work close to the product in a hands-on role.

Other desirable areas:
  • Experience from the lighting or sun protection industry is an asset.
  • Experience working cross-functionally and communicating effectively with colleagues in different disciplines.
  • Ability to solve complex problems and be flexible in a changing work environment.
Fixed-term Position

The position is a parental leave replacement for one year from August 2026 to August 2027, with good opportunities for extension.

Application & Process

We receive many applications (which we love!), and to make a really good selection, we would like to see something that shows who you are and how you tackle ideas in practice. Do you have something you are particularly proud of? Please include it!

This can be images, a portfolio, or examples of projects/products you have created. It doesn't need to be something large or advanced – hobby projects are perfectly the right level. The most important thing is that it shows your creativity, your drive, and how you like to create.

We will also send work tests later in the process and may send out other tests to make an even more objective selection.

Our ambition is to fill the role as soon as possible, but the likely start date is after the summer.
